-> The UConn baseball team (6-3) begins its Spring Break with a historic trip to the Hawaiian islands to face the University of Hawaii in a four-game series beginning Friday, March 10 at 11:35 p.m. ET.

The series marks the first time the baseball program has played games on the islands and marks the furthest west that the Huskies have played a game.

Saturday and Monday the Huskies will also have 11:35 p.m. ET start times and Sunday will be a 6:05 p.m. ET first pitch. All games will be streamed on MIXLR with Chris Jones on the call. Monday's game will be broadcasted on Spectrum Sports. <-

From the above article:

<RHP Ian Cooke, RHP Stephen Quigley and LHP Andrew Sears are scheduled to start the first three games of the weekend. RHP Jack Sullivan will most likely get the ball in game four but for now Monday's starting pitcher is TBA.>

.-.
Top 1st, with 2 outs, UConn hitters pick up 2 walks, but nothing comes of the 2 out rally attempt. UConn batters with 2 strikeouts that inning. No score.

Bottom 1st, with runners on the corners and 1 out, a run scores on a Huber error. 1-0 Hawaii. Cooke with 3 strikeouts that inning after the first 2 batters had reached base on singles.

Top 2nd, first 2 UConn batters reach base, but the runners are stranded at the corners. 1-0 Hawaii.

Bottom 2nd, with no outs and 2 runners in scoring position, a single drives in a run. 2-0 Hawaii. Another run scores on a double play, 3-0 Hawaii. 2 more Hawaii batters reach base on 2 out singles, but they don't score.

Top 3rd, Freeberger and Huber start a 1 out rally attempt with a walk and a double to put 2 runners in scoring position. A 2 out balk brings in a run, 3-1 Hawaii going to the bottom of the inning.

Bottom 3rd, a 1-2-3 inning for Cooke, with a nice play by Tamarro to end the inning. 3-1 Hawaii.

.-.
Cooke exits the game after 90 pitches. Coe coming in with UConn down 6-2 in the fourth. Cooke walked first two batters and Morton misplayed a ball to center.

Coe drops popup but Freeberger throws to second to get runner on fielder's choice. Runners at the corners with two away.

Top of 5, Freeberger hit by pitch, Huber strikes out.

Jonesy saying that Hawaii leads the Big West in attendance. Average 4k.

Studley hits into DP to end the top of the 5th. Still 6-2, Hawaii.

Leadoff batter bunts his way on base. Freeberger throws to second for first out. Tamarro dug it out of dirt and had no throw to first.

Coe attempts to pick off runner at first. Huber throws to Padilla but off target so now Hawaiian runner at second. Runner steals 3rd and now 2 outs in inning. Ball up the middle and off Padilla's glove to plate another runner. 7-2 with two outs.

Pick off runner to end inning. I believe Coe to Huber to Padilla. 7-2 Hawaii going to top of the 6th.

Three observations just from the box score:

1. We’re going nowhere if Cooke doesn’t at least pitch as well as he did last year. He’s now had four starts. Very troubling.

2. The inability to get any offense whatsoever from the Catcher’s position will kill us. Again, Garbowski showed he could hit last year before he got hurt. This has to be a surprise.

3. Can’t believe we used up Coe for the series in a game we were so far behind in. Watch that bite us in the butt Sunday or Monday.
