I thought a "C" is average. We are not average right now. We're below average. Probably a "D" is more appropriate. We're the only 3-9 team getting a C there.

But your point about small improvement is correct. There's no doubt the trend is (slowly) up. I'm optimistic.

Now's the time to buy in, when the price is low. I don't recommend selling any Husky stock.

This year’s defense was as bad as Diaco’s offense. Maybe worse.

UConn has to stop this trend of being among the absolute worst on either offense or defense. Guess when they achieve both in the same year it will be time to resurrect the old Yankee Conference.

Relative to where we were when Cranberry Pants rode the lightning, I would be inclined to give us a solid B-.

Remember how bad the offense was last year?

I think this year's defense is worse. I'm a solid C. B on the offense improvement, D- on the defense. A little credit for direction.

Unfortunately given the roster we have, this upcoming fall I can see us taking a step backwards.

Much better last year and will be better this fall once the weight room improvements take effect!
Precisely!
Practices will probably be super competitive because the returning players will finally see better athletes pushing for their jobs. If you don’t hit the weights and devour film the train will leave you because there are hungry kids who want to play.

We were an F under Diaco.

And a D, maybe D+, under Edsall.

Our defense was definitely an F last year. The offense was probably a C.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Hater.

I bet there’s a pair of cranberry pants in your closet.

I expect others to get all hurt in the feels about something so obvious, but I thought you had a little steel underneath your skirt.

Hater.

I couldn't give a higher grade. I happened to be in Boston for other reasons, had dinner with other UCONN folks and then drove home instead of going to the BC game, for which I had tickets. When it gets to the point that I'm indifferent about going to games, can't do better than a C, although I'm optimistic that Edsall will right the ship.

Massachusetts was better than UConn this year. They were at C-. That is where UConn should be or lower. I do not believe in rose colored glasses.

That's not what this grading was setting out to achieve. They're determining how each team performed relative to the overall state of the program heading into the season. So it's as much about program trajectory as it was about literal wins and losses. For instance, at 7-6 did New Mexico State have an A+ season on the field? Of course not. But that's how the writer determined this season was relative to where they were previously, and where they appear to be headed. A C+/C is appropriate for us now. If a few results flipped and we were 4-8 or 5-7, we'd be solidly in the B category.

I get it, but that isn't the point of their exercise. They're grading results based on preseason expectations, so I think a C more than fair.

Agreed, that is why UConn should be at C-.

That makes more sense.

Thanks.

Defense gets an incomplete.

Guys were not acting on instinct and playing out of position. I'm hoping for leaps and bounds improvement.

The experts had us winning 3.5 games. We were under that so we did not exceed expectations but at least showed a pulse.
