With the portal now being an open invitational does time spent on high school recruiting even matter anymore? I know that’s not true but at some point it will be. At least for some programs.

.-.
According to the calendar, the regular signing period begins April 16. Perhaps some commitments will come soon thereafter.

Jayla Forbes UCONN POI, Current Sophomore at Montverde
Academy. Jayla is a center, listed on the Monteverde roster as 6' 7", #32.
She is from Alabaster, Ala. This year she was a First Team All-SIAA
player (2024-2025) (SIAA = Sunshine Independent Athletic Association). Ms. Forbes
averaged 22.7 ppg,15.1 rebounds/game, with 3.1 blocks per game. Her
field goal percentage was 59% and she recorded 17 double doubles. I
noted the UCONN POI report somewhere in the Boneyard and checked her
Bio and stats. REF: Monteverde Academy Girls BB webpage.

Looks more like 6-5.

With Q leaving that opened up a third spot on the roster for potentially adding a player this year and for next. This opens the doors for Kate Harpring, Jerzy Robinson and Olivia Vukosa if they wish to commit. As stated countless times the Class of 2026 is loaded with talent. I would love to add Addison Bjorn too. However at this time the space isn’t there. Some posts have mentioned Kayleigh Heckel as a possible addition to the team. If she does choose to return to the Northeast then an additional player would need to enter the portal or graduate next season. Still a lot going on until the end of the month.

Harpring is not coming to UCONN! Trust me! She might visit but she won’t be a Husky! It’s heavily speculated that Robinson wants to stay on the west coast. Things could change but that’s been the rumor for a while on her and it hasn’t really changed. Vukosa is a possibility.

If Harpring not coming to UConn is true then Geno and staff really need ti change direction if they have already not done so. A leader a point guard running the UConn can be overwhelming. Off the top of my head I believe that Sue Bird and Crystal Dangerfield were the only two to do so. I may be wrong here.

A lot of people in various threads have pointed out that returning players other than KK Arnold can handle the ball. Those would be Azzi Fudd a natural shooter. Morgan Cheli a point forward. Or Kelis Fisher one of our recruits that’s coming in this season. If the staff isn’t pursuing a PG for this coming season then I would hope that all interest is on Kaleena Smith the current #1 player in the Class of 2027.

The UConn staff has a bunch going on right now. The Championship Parade is this afternoon. The WNBA Draft is tomorrow night.

I know that the staffs eyes are never off of the portal. But, it’s time to fill in small holes on the team. Another post player and a Point Guard. Even if it’s only for one season. The Staff has been successful in finding these players and getting them involved with the system.

I think Nika and Moriah had a pretty good year, maybe Renee and Bria, but it if there is a culture fitting upgrade out there you have to take it.

LSU is putting the full-court press to get Serah Williams on board with her official 2-day visit. I've read that Kim is pulling out all the stops and Flau'Jae is recruiting her hard. Sorry for my ignorance, but what is the latest about what UCONN has done or will do to try to get Serah to come to UCONN? She seems like the perfect frontcourt fit to help us to another natty

We don't know. Typically, UConn is tight lipped on recruiting activities, and not a lot gets posted on social media until after it happens, or when a transfer commits and/or signs. The program generally eschews the spotlight and just does its job.

Meanwhile. LSU's asst coach (more recruiter than coach) is on social media begging LSU fans to send posts to Serah Williams (without actually naming her).

Lots of players like what Kim and LSU have to offer.

Yup. And if that's what Serah wants, and she feels her skills fit into LSU's program, then good for her. Depending on the factor, one could say "not everyone wants ___________ at __________".

I think it will come down to what good she likes more. Is it famous BBQ from Carolina’s. Jambalaya and Po Boys from Louisiana or the best pizza in America from Connecticut. Easy enough…

I heard that Serah will be visiting UCONN next week. Can anyone verify? If true, then she will surely have a lot to weigh in her decision. And if true, then she didn't give Kim a commitment. I sure hope she says Yes to Geno.

Probably not. UConn does not advertise/announce much in terms of recruiting and visits. There is always chatter if a player is visiting, however we won't see the photo/video spreads, aka LSU etc. Over the last few years of transfers, we'll probably know when the player announces, LOL.

Yeah, I would like to see us add someone to the 2026 class. It has been ages since we landed an actual signing. Sarah strong was the last one I think.
Players in the 2026 class cannot sign until Nov. 13, 2025. They can only verbally commit to a school which is non-binding.

.-.
We have two portal players at UConn visiting and there is room for both. For Serah it’s a one year commitment. For Kayleigh it’s a three commitment. We loose Fudd; Ducharme and Williams is she signs. That’s three openings.

There is plenty of room for Kate; Jerzy and Olivia. If an opening does occur I hope that we could Jason Bjorn’s sister Addison.

Kate and Jerzey won’t go to the same team. They play the same position

If I had to choose between them, I'd pick Jerzy over Kate. But it doesn't have to be an either/or situation.

I’d rather have Kate running my offense at PG. Jerzy is great and will be a matchup nightmare at the 2/3.

On the UConn board there are a bunch of comments on whether Kayleigh Heckel should become a part of the team. A lot to read but one comment stood out as it referred to Harpring.

I’m a believer in the recruiting system. However, as we have found out over various years players change their minds. And, others like to wait. Now it’s NIL for many of them as well.

So what does Geno do here? You might get a young lady that was highly ranked prior to going to Southern California. She fits some teams needs and can play point. Plus, she had three years of eligibility left.

Do you say no and shoot for the stars in hoping that the best guard in the country might want to come and he a part of the UConn squad? Tough call. If I had to make the choice I would take Kayleigh Heckel if she wants to play at UC. You have to take the sure thing.

We then would still have three scholarships available for the loaded 2026 Class. Vukosa, Robinson and Bjorn are you reading for your calling?

If we are getting Heckel, I assume we are really down to only two targets in 2026. The Big O and Robinson.

Because when you look at roster spots; we really don’t have very many. And those two players seem like the ones we are really going hard for.
