UConn-Florida, Sunday 12:10 pm on CBS

So let me get this straight , you have the two- time defending national champs in the northeast tv market against pretty much the overall number 1 team everyone is picking to win the whole thing and the last two time defending national champs, and you put the matchup on the noon game on Sunday ? that should easily be 5-6 or 7 o’clock primetime game - plus both teams played the night wave tonight. U would think you would give them the courtesy of playing the night wave or at least a later afternoon game on Sunday Once again uconn get screwed. Meanwhile, teams like Mississippi State , Iowa State and New Mexico get the more reasonable evening time slots- unbelievable. Can’t make it up I can’t believe that game is at noon. Dumb dumb dumb
I think the early start time actually helps UConn

Is the NCAA dumb? Why are the best teams and matchups not in prime time?
The three biggest names (UConn, Duke, and Kentucky) are all playing on CBS.

Except for st johns we have had guys be monsters in big games this year.
They will be fired up and will play with a ton of energy.

We will be in the game till the end.

It doesn't sound like he's scared at all.
I really do think this team thrives in this kind of environment. Yesterday was just sluggish against a sluggish opponent.
I'm very optimistic

Hurley has been fighting all season to get our defense good enough. Last night I saw the results of that and that is why in part the game was so ugly. We also shot 24% from 3 holding them to 17%. We shoot 36% and we have a shot tomorrow.

Advantage UConn. We're much harder to prep for.
everyone keeps saying this, but i’m not so sure.

in past years maybe. but our offense doesn’t seem as difficult to guard this year.

especially if you have a big that you can park in the paint, and athletes that can switch every screen on the perimeter. which it seems like Florida has.

we will keep running these “elaborate” sets, when we should be playing a simple inside outside game thru reed anytime he is in.

In yesterday's game we got contributions up and down our lineup. These kind of teams are very dangerous in March.

St John’s-Arkansas will be a dogfight. I’m picking Cal over Ricky in my pool at work.

UConn last year would smoke this UF team. It doesn't mean this UF team isn't really good, they are. They're the favorites to win the whole thing, they're great. Our best shot might not be good enough but I would like to see our best shot with everything clicking.

UConn last year was unreal, I don't think everyone has fully wrapped their heads around how great that team was. We may never see a team like that again. I've yet to see a team that was as as good as them and I'm not young.
IMO last year was the greatest UConn team of all time. They would beat every single one of our previous great teams and maybe even by double digits. They do not get the credit they deserve nationally. They should be mentioned with some of the greatest college basketball teams of all time, and certainly of this century.

Florida better be ready for a street fight. While UConn may not be as talented as them up and down the roster, this squad has pride in themselves and in this program. To quote Rocky in Rocky IV: “To beat me he is going to have to kill me. I don’t know if he is ready for that.”

Let’s go!!!!

One other thing about the quick turnaround is that Hass and Sampson have to do itvwhile getting up earlier so they can hydrate and eat. This is the first game they will be playing g during daylight hours in a couple of weeks.

Game has to be played in 60s/70s for uconn to have a chance. It's gets above that and we don't have the scoring to keep up

Well, they have 8 games to squeeze in each day. ;)
It could be worse. They could all be in the same time slot and broadcast via the dreaded "wraparound coverage."

Altho the very quick turnaround isn't ideal, fortunately, other than AK, nobody else played a ton of minutes yesterday. Foul trouble worked in our favor there. Of course, nobody on UF played a ton of minutes either.

I mean… he’s not wrong.
Kemba or Boatright aren't walking through that door anytime soon. Now it's just using what you have. I guess that's why our pace is so slow and deliberate (5th slowest of all 68 tournament teams). All the off-ball action and it can't create shooting pockets like last year.

UF isn't unbeatable but they are an offensive juggernaut that is hard to slow down. Clayton will launch from anywhere and the rest of the team handles/passes and shoots well. Their interior is deep and long and so their guards extend and invite rim attacks. And they want the pace to be exceedingly high.

That all said, they are also an extremely odd team in terms of who they played, or didn't. Their OOC is pathetic. They killed the SEC though but somehow lost to Missouri, UK, Tennessee and freaking Georgia.

UK shot the leather off the ball and UF didn't. Missouri got a lot of steals. Tennessee smothered them defensively and Georgia played the game of their lives. Even then Missouri and Georgia won by a single possession.

They are just a very solid team. Last year's UConn probably wins by a healthy margin but this year, it will take a very strong defensive effort, lots of good shooting and a ton of luck to win even a close one.

Just watched the Auburn game and was there something wrong with Broome during that game. He looked slow from the jump (and lazy). I know he had a good line but...
If the game is in the 60s we have a good chance to win. If it goes higher we're probably toast.
