I wonder why the scholly limit is so low? Most schools seem to struggle to offer enough women scholarships to balance all the FB schollies. Though then again I guess if you allow too many, it allows the few good schools to stockpile even more.
You hit it. I just received a beg letter from RU pointing out that Rutgers is the only school in the B1G that cannot afford to offer even the NCAA maximum across all sports (never mind if those maximums were higher).

The since departed Bob Mulcahy while he was AD tried at Rutgers to both increase scholarships in general and women's scholarships in particular, however, I think that effort went to the side until now when we are competing with teams that are funded to the max.

Numerous other sports (including softball and volleyball, for example) have less than full scholarships for the team available, and are handled in the fashion that Gurleyman indicates.

Yay! Congrats! That's a nice accomplishment to offset Monday's game at Stanford that still annoys the hell out of me.
