No surprise here:

Senior Svea Boker picked as Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.

Boker, redshirt sophomore Cheyenne Sprecher, sophomore Lindsay Dickinson, senior Antonia Tiedke, and junior Jessica Dembrowski were all named to the Preseason All Big East team.

Preseason field hockey poll has UConn at No. 4. North Carolina is at No. 1, Maryland is 2, Duke is 3. Overall, there are 3 ACC teams in the top 10, 7 in the top 18.

Wins over to start the year Northwestern and Stanford out west. Good character win today at Stanford after falling down 2-0. After their insane seeding last year they really can't afford to lose to anyone besides Maryland and expect to host.

UConn wins at Princeton in OT 2-1. Hopefully makes up for the Michigan loss. But than again this is the selection committee.

This program never ceases to amaze
Just a wonderful success story for Coach S and the team

UConn field hockey has games at Temple and Maryland this weekend. A victory at Maryland would give UConn a big lift in possibly gaining a home seed in the NCAA tournament. A loss could very well put UConn on the outside looking in.

My current projection:

Mia/Stan @ 1 UNC / NWern v Princeton
Michigan @ 4 Lou / Iowa v Virginia
Fair/Amer @ 2 MD / Delaware v St Joes
BC @ 3 UConn / Duke v Harvard

If FH uses the 500-mile rule, then only 3 teams (Mia/Stan winner, NWern, Duke) would be beyond that

UConn remains at No. 3 in the field hockey poll. Maryland is now at No. 2, replacing Duke which now has 3 losses and is now at No. 4 in the poll. Duke has losses to No. 1 North Carolina, No. 19 Syracuse, and to No. 12 Princeton. Duke also has a neutral site win over Maryland.

home field advantage still alive
