@dbmill 14th? I've never heard that before when it was clearly not a tie game. I assume this is something they agree upon ahead of time to get lots of players some time. Good idea if so and makes the trip more worth it since it's a one-off.

Correct. Probably a away to get more action out of a limited number of allowable games during the fall. Pretty clever.

I have been at fall exhibition games in Storrs in the past where it was agreed by both sides that the game would go beyond 9 innings no matter what the score was.

Definitely worth sharing this quote:

-> When Sam Biller entered the transfer portal after hitting 12 home runs this past spring at Loyola Marymount, he attracted the usual interest from programs in the West — along with one from the opposite corner of the country: Connecticut.

“We’re lucky to get him. It’s not very often that a kid comes out from the West Coast and has a visit lined up to USC that he cancels right after he sees Storrs. And he committed that same day,” said longtime UConn head coach Jim Penders. “There’s no chance that happens 15, 20 years ago.” <-

Kid got on base 40% of the time with all his walks and HBP’s. Should spot in nicely at the 6 spot or so

According to the above article, Aidan Dougherty after his excellent summer ball season, he has been hampered a bit by a hip issue this fall. Coach Penders says that could have an impact with his bat similar to what Dominic Freeberger had when he was with UConn.

Will be interesting for him when UConn plays USC this year.
