UConn @ ECU - Friday 3/31@6:30p ET, Saturday 4/1@4p ET & Sunday 4/2 @ Noon ET

Should have been a 1-2-3 bottom half, but two bad errors have ECU threatening.

Feldstein redemption on the great throw + overslide. ECU only scores 1 that inning, on weak contact that should have been fielded. 5-1 going into the 8th.

Gets Brickhouse swinging to supposedly end inning, but he gets first on wild pitch. Ughhh.

.-.
Radue coming in for Nepiarsky. 2 outs, runners in 1st and 2nd.

This offense has to stop falling asleep with leads late in the game. We'd be so much better off if we treated every inning as if we were down by 2 in the 9th.

Going to B9, up 5-1. It's a good thing ECU's defense was terrible today, otherwise it's another 1-1 game.

ECU with bases loaded, and 2 outs. UConn Always makes it interesting.

A little disturbed by the bats, but all 3 of our starters are absolutely electric. Nice work.

Agree re. the bats, but I'm sure they'll feast against the lesser staffs of the AAC.

Reminds me of Houston series last game. Never saw a sweep for good guys this weekend. They were owned by this team last year. Nice to go down to Greenville and come back 3-0 in league play....huge series.

UConn: Huskies Sweep No. 15/26 East Carolina, 5-1

Notes
  • UConn grabs its first top 25 sweep since sweeping No. 7 Notre Dame in a three-game series March 23-24, 2002.
  • The Huskies start conference play with a 3-0 record for the first time since sweeping West Virginia, March 23-25, 2012.
  • Ryan Radue notched his first career save with 1.1 scoreless innings out of the pen.
  • Mason Feole logged a career-high seven innings and pushed his record to 4-0 in his freshman campaign.

UConn returns to action for its home opener on Tuesday, April 4 against Northeastern at 3 p.m.

The Huskies entered the season with postseason aspirations, but appeared to be in big trouble a few weeks ago when they dropped a series at Texas, and most importantly, lost junior lefthander Tim Cate to an injury. Cate missed a few weeks of action, but looked like his usual self over the weekend in a series sweep over East Carolina, striking out 13, walking two and allowing a run on five hits in seven innings. UConn’s pitching staff was impressive the entire weekend, as Wills Montgomerie struck out six, walked one and allowed a run in seven innings and Mason Feole tossed seven shutout innings in the series finale. Connecticut is up to 30 in the latest RPI and has seen its RPI climb over 30 spots in the past week. Watch out for Jim Penders’ club.<<
