Top 8th, Casparius strands a couple runners to come up with a scoreless inning. A very nice outing for him, should be interesting to see who comes out of the bullpen for the 9th, as I would expect that with 3 more games to play this weekend that UConn would like to avoid the big guns out of the bullpen today if possible.

Should be hopefully a low pressure situation for a kid to get his feet wet in college game

Top 9th, UConn with a 5-0 lead, and Favieri takes the mound.

Such a great performance by Casparius against a team that is no slouch. His 8IP performance is the first 8 inning outing since Colby Dunlop against Nebraska in the NCAA regionals I think. Cfed and Reggie continue to be great. Let’s keep rolling

Colby Dunlop going 8 innings is what Chris Jones was thinking during the WHUS broadcast.

Decent enough Favieri. He will need to watch the walks in the future.

Walks by young pitchers in college baseball are pretty much a way of life in the game. What I liked about Favieri today is that after he walked the two batters, he did not go into a panic and keep on compounding the problem. What he did today is something that is going to earn him more chances from the coaching staff. By the way, Casparius had four innings today where he had multiple baserunners on base as well, and he pitched his way through it very nicely. There was no panic in him as well either.

So much for sleeping in! This is rough on huskies who are not eastern time zone.

Kyler Fedko gets another day off. Some of the comments on Penders post game seemed directed his way.
