Will take the out for a run at this point. Santos seems like he is doing fine.

Concerned about Moriarity. It's just week 3 but he still isn't hitting and his defense has been uncharacteristically poor.

I would think Moriarty's glove will pick up. However, he has never hit over .220 or so in either college or summer ball, so his continued non hitting is not a good sign. Hard to keep a sub .200 hitter in the lineup no matter how good the glove.

The guys most likely to play 3B in place of Moriarty are David Langer, Kyler Fedko, and Will Lucas. That group has 1 hit total so far this season. I suspect Moriarty's spot at 3B is safe until one of them shows something with the bat.

Notes:
  • CJ Dandeneau earned his third career save on Friday. The right-hander has converted all three of his save chances in Conway, recording a save against Coastal Carolina in March of last season and in an elimination game in the Conway Regional.
  • Cole Brodnansky made his first career start at designated hitter and reached three times on Friday.
  • John Toppa and Anthony Pratoboth have hit safely in the first seven games of the season.
  • UConn recorded a season-high 12 hits in the victory.
  • The Huskies captured their first victory without hitting a home run (1-2)

The revised schedule now has Northeastern vs. Illinois playing tomorrow at 10am. So even without weather interfering further with the schedule, it is possible that UConn vs. Indiana may start after 1:30 if the first game runs long.

UConn bullpen is sure to get plenty of work the rest of the weekend. Hope Simeone can advance to pitching 4 or 5 complete innings this game, that would be progress for him. Chris Jones was indicating that Mason Feole is sure to be on a pitch count that will limit his innings, and it is also the first start of the year for Kenny Haus.

It may mean that some pitchers out of the pen are going to have to go 2 or 3 innings even if they're getting shelled.

Wallace should be available to pitch an inning or two today and tomorrow, thanks to CJ's grandstanding yesterday.

Indiana is throwing Tanner Gordon today, who has lasted 4 innings of each of his two starts. He pitched pretty well vs. Menphis but struggled against Tennessee.

Tenn baseball is usually awful but they seem to be improved this year.

IU 6 Northeastern 4.

The other huskies made a comeback attempt that fell just short.
