Will uconn make top 25 ranking with a series win here
No. Campbell is a historically solid program, like us, but is under .500 this year. And we still have a losing record. Also, our team pitching stats are near the bottom of d1 in almost all categories.

Campbell is not good. Penders is just using coach speak when he was speaking about them. He will talk up an 0-11 team if you let him. A sweep doesn’t move the needle the slightest when it comes to thinking this team will be ranked. There is a path back but gonna take several weekends to get there.

Love the Pudvar is putting together a string of performances. Have belief in Suchey tomorrow and would be nice to head into Sunday with a series win already in back pocket.

Like you I have great belief in Suchy. Need Suchy and Tommy to pitch well today and get UConn back to .500. It won't move the needle but would build momentum prior to games against Duke and North Carolina.

Dalena and Garbowski seeing a lot more time on the bench this season, certainly more than I expected, even with slow starts.

Top 1st, with 2 outs Daniels and MacArthur both draw walks. Dougherty follows with a single that drives in a run, 1-0 UConn.

An infield error loads the bases, and another run scores when Groen is hit by a pitch. 2-0 UConn going to the bottom of the inning.

Bottom 1st, Ellisen gives up a leadoff walk, and the runner advances to 2B on a wild pitch. The next batter gets a bunt single that puts runners on the corners with no outs. The runner at 1B steals 2B with no outs. A sac fly for the 1st out drives in a run. 2-1 UConn.

With 2 outs, a single drives in a run to tie the game at 2.

Leadoff walks will kill you.

For this team to win a regional, two of Van Emon / Ellisen / Cooke need to get right. Our bullpen is fine but won’t survive a regional with starting pitching this atrocious.

Top 2nd, UConn gets 2 runners on base with no outs. Shpur steals 3B and Rispoli steals 2B with no outs. Daniels drives in a run with a ground out for the 2nd out, 3-2 UConn.

MacArthur gets an intentional walk. Rispoli steals home as MacArthur is thrown out trying to steal 2B, he got caught in a run down, for the final out. 4-2 UConn.

4-2 UConn but after getting runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs, only 2 runs there is a little disappointing with how good the offense has been. Their pitcher’s pitch count is elevated.

Sam Biller is starting to step up in a big way. I’ve been critical of him but he’s starting to get it done.

Camels defense makes another error, allowing him to score. 5-2 UConn

Top 3rd, Biller gets on base with a 1 out double. Biller steals 3B and scores on a throwing error by the catcher. 5-2 UConn going to the bottom of the inning.

Bottom 3rd, with 2 outs Ellisen gives up 2 singles, and an error by Minick loads the bases. Ellisen gets the final out to leave the bases loaded. 5-2 UConn. Ellisen has thrown 61 pitches so far.

Top 4th, Shpur gets a leadoff walk, he steals 2B with no outs, he is thrown out trying to steal 3B for the 1st out. The UConn offense has a scoreless inning, 5-2 UConn.

Bottom 4th, Ellisen gives up a leadoff solo homer, 5-3 UConn.

After the homer, Ellisen gives up a no out walk. Ellisen comes out of the game, Galusha takes the mound.

Galusha walks the first batter he faces, and an infield single loads the bases with no outs. With no outs, a hit by pitch brings in a run, 5-4 UConn.

Galusha comes out of the game, Shaw takes the mound.

You have to know what pieces you do and don’t have going into conference play. Also, you can’t win in the playoffs with 3-5 functioning arms anyway. I like that Penders is testing guys like Galusha, even if we lose this and other games as a result.
