UConn @ BYU -- 3/16 @ 8p ET, 3/17 @ 8p ET & 3/18 @ 3p ET

Chris Jones on WHUS reports that Aaron Hill with his sprained wrist is out for the rest of the BYU series as a regular player. He could be called upon to pinch run.

Bottom 1st, BYU walk, stolen base, and another single scores a run. 1-0 BYU, but compared to other Montgomerie 1st innings he did not really struggle like has in other 1st innings where he threw over 30 pitches while struggling with his control. So that is progress, I suppose.

UConn takes the lead in the top of the 2nd off of a Feldstein walk, Gnesda double, then a ground out and infield single scores two runs. 2-1 UConn in the 2nd.

Yahn triple off a disputed diving catch attempt in the outfield, he scores on a ground out. 3-1 UConn going to bottom of the 3rd.

With runners on 1st and 3rd, the BYU catcher picks Moriarty off 3b to end the 4th inning. Bad way to end an inning. Winkel was attempting a steal of 2nd, so it might have been Penders "dead duck" trick play to try to get Moriarty to score on the play.

Top of the 5th, Prato gets his second hit of the game, a double which puts Krueger on third. UConn threatening. Susi single drives in both runners. 5-2 UConn. By the way, Prato's average is up to .373.

Montgomerie has settled down nicely, gets another 1-2-3 inning in the 5th. He has 6 strikeouts to his tab.

BYU picks up a run in the bottom of the 6th to make it 5-3 UConn. Montgomerie may be done for the night. UConn batting in top of 7th.

Top of 7th, Susi RBI single drives in Willy Yahn to make it 6-3 UConn. Yahn now sounds like he is fielding well, and his bat is heating up as well.

Montgomerie still in the game in the bottom of the 7th. Dandeneau is warming up.

I was wrong, guess we should have let Wills throw 150 pitches. Bullpen just not getting it done. And it really starts with the walks. Throw strikes already.

I was just having some fun, as I thought Montgomerie wouldn't even start the inning. Anyway, Montgomerie finishes with 123 pitches. Dandeneau has control issues for the second game in a row, allows a run but gets out of the inning with UConn still holding a 6-5 lead. We'll see if John Russell goes for a two inning save.
