8-3 after a triple. This meltdown is squarely on Domnarski...you CANNOT pitch like that, ever, to the bottom of a 10-18 team's order.

Great job by bullpen. Not one guy is reliable and unfortunately will be our undoing this year.

Errors in the field didn't help either. Two midweek games in a row where we lay an egg after a big weekend. You can't have these meltdowns and be truly taken seriously as a top 25 team.

Penders reaches for the back end of the bullpen with Trevor Holmes coming in to pitch.

And Holmes quickly records a strikeout to finally end the inning.

Agree, at this point if he's not going to start Nepiarsky or Zapata maybe he should use them in relief in these midweek games.

Nepiarsky has been seeing time periodically out of the bullpen. One guy who hasn't pitched at all this season is Joe Rivera, so maybe we will end up seeing him, assuming he isn't hurt.

Maybe Holmes deserves more innings. At least he didn't walk anyone.

Good point, I was wondering that myself and was thinking he might be hurt. He pitched fairly well for us last year not to be used at all this year.

Holmes was hurt for the vast majority most of last year, but a couple of years ago he was getting some important innings out of the bullpen towards the end of the season.

Chris Jones just mentioned we have nothing but 2 midweek games from here on out. God help us now. I think they're going to have to go pitcher by committee with Cate and Wills to win.

Speak of the devil. Joe Rivera comes in for the bottom of the 8th.

Rivera pitched 14 innings last year and had a 1.93 ERA. If he wasn't hurt it would make no sense why he hasn't pitched to this point this year with the struggles we have had.

Because Penders gets too attached to certain guys
