UConn @ Bryant (4/9/19 @ 3p)

Nothing new, but Johnson having control issues having loaded up the bases with 1 out.

Ground out scores a run for Bryant putting them ahead 3-2.

Am I the only one watching the stream -- I'm afraid to post because I'm way ahead of you guys?

I need my Chris Jones fix after going without for the last several days. Even if he is just doing color.

Understood.... its a strange experience to listen to a non-UConn broadcast team.

That's another reason. I always figure Jones will come up with some useful nuggets of UConn information. Occasionally I'll take a look at the stream, but it is a bit disconcerting with the time delay.

Fedko is heatimg back up.

Our approach SUCKED when their new reliever came in. We went back to swinging at the 1st pitch when patience had served us so well.

The bottom of the order also came up. A slight difference in hitting ability from the top.

That was Chris Winkel. He is driving me nuts. Swung at first pitch in the dirt and struck out on a pitch above his head. They were giving him the run with runner on 3rd and 1 out.

Joe Simeone warming up in the pen as Johnson is having more control issues in the 5th. Two men get on from walks with 1 out in the 5th.

Prato starts another double play to get Johnson out of trouble in the 5th. 6-3 UConn.

I trust Johnson far less than most of our other relievers. The dam will break at some point.

I think Langer is solidifying his job at third. Playing well.

No question he is getting an extended look at this point. If he gets his average up a bit, he will no doubt keep the job. Defense seems to be coming as well.

I understand what you are saying, but think of it this way. Despite his control issues, Johnson often finds a way to get out of trouble with not much of anything showing up on the scoreboard. Right now he is doing it with more walks than innings pitch. I really like his potential. If he can get his walks down a bit, he could be something.

And it really shows up in both his walk total on the year (4) and a poor on base percentage (which in my mind is the most important offensive stat in baseball).

I swear I never complain about umps, but the guy behind home plate has 2 different strikezones for each team.

Johnson still on the mound to start the bottom of the 6th.

Johnson digging himself into trouble again in the 6th, with bases loaded with 2 walks included and 1 out.
