Huskies Beat Bryant 11-6 in Shortened Game

Notes
  • With his two walks today, Christian Fedko has 32 walks on the season. That total is more than any Husky had in 60 games last season (Zac Susi, 30 walks).
  • Anthony Nucerino has recorded five-straight multi-hit games. During the stretch, the UConn outfielder is 10-17 (.588) to move his average to .341 on the season.
  • Chris Winkel recorded a hit to extend his hitting streak to a team-high 12 games. The junior also recorded his team-leading ninth multi-RBI game.
  • Back-to-back seasons the Huskies and Bulldogs have had their game called due to darkness.
  • Karl Johnson picked up his first career victory.

The UConn record for walks in a season is George Springer with 60 in 2010. Assuming UConn gets into the NCAA Tournament, I would think Fedko is going to make a pretty good run at this record.

I've always thought that a player is doing well in the walk column if he is generating 1 walk in every 10 at bats (the at bat total does not include those walks). Thus a player with 10 or more walks in 100 at bats is doing fine. Christian Fedko has 32 walks in 105 at bats, which is absolutely astounding.

Next season UConn's new baseball stadium will have lights. There will be no worry about those games having to be called on account of darkness. I'm hoping that these midweek games will have a later starting time such as 4pm or even a bit later.

Oh yep, definitely agree with that for home games next year. For this year, it's a shame that a game between two quality D1 teams was called early due to darkness.
