Starting to look like it's time to warm up Jolin and hope he can give you 3 or 4 good innings of relief.
 
Game over. Why is Ward still on the mound??? He doesn't have it.

Depressing effort vs. a terrible Boston College team. Yeesh.

Edit: 5-0. Absolute nightmare...time to take Ward out. He must still be hurt.
 
take him out and put him on the dl. wow this has blown up quick.
5-0 bc and ward gets taken out here. 2 outs right now with a runner on 2nd.
 
I don't get starting Ward for this game. He obviously has something wrong. Should have started Butler and came back with Ward against Pitt this weekend. Getting hammered.

Game's never over in college. If the pen can put together a good effort this game is still winnable. UConn's not the only team with fielding issues, in fact it seems every game the other team has butchered some plays in the field. Just need a solid effort for the next 7 innings.
 
Finally out of it. Absolutely terrible start.

We should be teeing off these pitchers but so far have not hit the ball at all.
 
to the 3rd. hurvul gets the last out. ward needs a mental checkup. even if there a physical issue, no reason as the teams #1 for him to loose it control wise like that then throw 2 flat pitches down the pipe. JP has to get him under control between the ears.

I've been to every home game this year and this offense seems to always scatter hits the first time through the lineup. Then they scrape together a couple runs the second time through. Then they pick up a handful of runs the third time through. Small sample size so that could be due to any number of things (the most likely of which is most teams have poor bullpens in college) but it does seem to be a slight pattern.
 
Blown away by a freshman from New Hampshire. We cannot afford to give BC insurance runs.

Hopefully Butler can bring his A game right now and give 5+ strong innings.

Like I said Nolan Ryan must be pitching for BC. This team strikes out far too much.
 
If we could just steal even 1 run it would go a long way towards building confidence. This feels like one of those games where the 1st run is going to be the hardest to get.

Bloop double for Martin. Get a bloop single and cut it to a 4 run deficit and go from there.
 
Verdi crushes a ball over the fence that goes foul. Even something like that can create some confidence for the rest of the lineup. This pitcher has to be hittable.

Radio guys say the pitcher is in the sun and the batter is shadows. Always hard to hit in those conditions. Hate to be the team trailing in this situation. Hopefully the sun get down a little bit and extend the shadow past the mound.
 
We've got some life here in the 4th
 
Pitcher's command has gone to shit since switching to the stretch.

Another quick pitching change for BC. Loaded for Ferriter with 2 outs.
 
chip away baby! we didnt get the hbp but the swinging bunt works! still juiced with 2 away for fuller now.
 
Fuller flies out but we get 2 runs. Hate to leave them loaded but a 3 run game looks a hell of a lot better than a 5 run game.
 
Good job getting back into the game. I doubt BC will stop scoring so we need a couple of "crooked number" innings going forward.
