Bottom 7th, West retires the side in order picking up 2 more strikeouts, he now has 4 strikeouts in this game. 10-7 Missouri.
 
Top 8th, UConn offense goes down in order. 10-7 Missouri.

Hector Alejandro comes in to pitch for UConn in the bottom of the 8th.
 
Bottom 8th, Alejandro hits the first batter he faces. With no out the runner steals 2B and moves to 3B on a throwing error by Connor Lane. Alejandro walks the next batter to put runners on the corners. A sac fly drives in a run, 11-7 Missouri.

Alejandro hits another batter with 1 out. A ground out for the 2nd out puts runners on the corners.

Alejandro comes out of the game. Sam Hutchinson comes in to pitch.

The runner at 1B steals 2B, and Hutchinson walks the first batter he faces to load the bases. A strikeout ends the inning. 11-7 Missouri.
 
Top 9th, Biller gets a 1 out single, he moves to 2B on a wild pitch. A scoreless inning for UConn. Missouri wins 11-7.

With the returning pitchers we have and some of the new ones appearing, command of the fastball remains a problem. It makes for a tough watch.

I think it’s the Desert Invitational which uconn played in pre-covid. My husband and I went to the tournament then. It was fun! This years tournament is now on MLB channel.
 
Sorry for falling off the game here… ugly ride back from BDL that required two hand attention. First chance this year to hear Jonesy on MIXLR tho’

 
Like the team the post game interviews need some work. Bad audio yesterday with all sorts of background noise and this one gets cut off.

My Roku/ESPN+ is about two full pitches behind the game stats - watching batter @ 2-1 count and game stat tab changes to a “5”…

None of our 3 starters showed much this weekend. Suchy had impressed the staff and was on the cusp but needed some time to settle in. Here's his chance to do that
