Hatters playing some good ball to start the season:
Because I can’t remember a season where we’ve gone into it with so few people who have been above average starters or rotation pitchers for us or a top 100 program somewhere else. We have returned our share of position starters, but none that have proven they could be the key hitters. And I can’t recall coming into a season with as few pitchers who have shown they can be above average at their level of responsibility. What made you not thrilled with our roster?
Bottom 1st, Cooke walks the leadoff hitter. A strikeout followed by a double play ends the inning with no runs. No score.
Bottom 5th, Missouri with a leadoff single followed by a no out steal of 2B. A 1 out homer brings in 2 runs. 4-2 Missouri.
Cooke comes out of the game, Evan Hamberger comes in to pitch.
Hamberger gets 2 strikeouts to end the inning. 4-2 Missouri.
Top 6th, Daniels with a 2 out solo homer for the only UConn hit of the inning, 4-3 Missouri.
Bottom 6th, the leadoff hittler reaches 3B on an error by RF Biller, Hamberger walks the next batter, who then steals 2B with no out. A no out single drives in a run, 5-3 Missouri.
A no out infield single brings in another run, 6-3 Missouri.
A balk advances the runners, double drives in another run. a homer drives in 3 more runs, 10-3 Missouri.
Hamberger comes out of the game. Charlie West comes in to pitch.
