2025 UConn Football Commit - Jordan Rich (Plantation, Florida) - Decommit 7/25/24
Jordan Rich is a 5-10 175lb DB from American Heritage High School, Plantation, Florida. Jordan was on campus last weekend for Junior Day. Other offer from Western Michigan. Highlights * Now need to figure out if he’s baseball, football or both* ;)the-boneyard.com
Supposedly he already signed with Toronto. Haven't seen anything official but it's been talked about on TwitterIs he going pro? Seems silly to not go play in college for a slot value of like $90k. He may get a little over, but that is not worth forgoing a college scholarship and NIL IMO. To go play in De Moines and live in a billet house?
Teams can offer a scholarship as part of the contract they give. I do not think college baseball is bringing in huge NIL offers like football and basketball eitherIs he going pro? The NIL isn't the same, but a half scholarship to somewhere like UConn and $10k in NIL is like a $30-40k a year value. Same that you will get in signing bonus, and a better experience. Getting drafted out of college has become the fastest way to get to the MLB. The development that these kids get in college now often puts them past all of Rookie and Low A ball.Teams can offer a scholarship as part of the contract they give. Every High School player who was drafted and signed last year got at least a $150k signing bonus. They also get a salary and can receive a scholarship in addition to both of those payments. It’s a different decision for everyone but for most of these guys there is a non-zero financial incentive to go pro instead of college. The NIL isn't the same, but a half scholarship to somewhere like UConn and $10k in NIL is like a $30-40k a year value. UConn baseball players are getting 30-40k out of NIL?! Impressive if true. The NIL isn't the same, but a half scholarship to somewhere like UConn and $10k in NIL is like a $30-40k a year value. No, the scholarship is worth that. I imagine most are getting south of $20k in actual NIL. We will see how that changes now that the school can pay as well though.UConn baseball players are getting 30-40k out of NIL?! Impressive if true.
Not sure the school is going to be funneling any of the rev share to baseball. No, the scholarship is worth that. I imagine most are getting south of $20k in actual NIL. We will see how that changes now that the school can pay as well though.

Jordan Rich, a Toronto Blue Jays draft pick, signed for the standard $150,000 slot value for rounds 11-20
It seems like a pretty easy choice. Go to college and get a full scholarship to pay for college and some NIL money, or sign with Toronto and get a $150K signing bonus and your college education still paid for when your career endsBetter than and shark stick in the eye, but to me, not enough money to forego college. He can always go back and play football though, so maybe not a bad plan for a 2-sport athlete
Norwalk has a 6’3” freshman named Gavin Chakar that’s apparently already touching low-90s. I grew up and played in Norwalk and still keep a good pulse on the baseball community, and there’s something special about this kid (and NHS this year, in general. Hope they can sweep FCIACs and LLs. They have two other pitchers that are also around 85-90 and could be D-I good).
Would hope Penders and co. have already reached out to him. I’ve said over the years that Lower Fairfield County is something of a “white whale” for us, as their very best kids seem to go BC, Vandy, or other ACC/SEC schools. Heck, there’s a kid on Warde who committed to Louisville as a sophomore (I think he’s since decommitted, but still). That area produces so much talent, and we need to ensure we’re getting more than our share of it.
