If Winkel is drafted is will likely be very late. Game on CPTV Sports last night indicated that he has missed the entire season due to a broken hand and has not had any at bats since the fall.

Amity routs ND-West Haven, 17-0, to win SCC Championship.
In the fifth, Amity senior first baseman Chris Winkel stepped to the plate for his first at-bat in about two months, after having a bone removed from his hand in the offseason, and fisted a single to right field.

“It was good to get him in there,” Coppola said. “If he stays healthy, which I think he will, he’ll be playing full-time from this point on.”

I just started checking summer ball rosters for UConn player assignments. The Bristol Blues of the Futures League list a UConn pitcher named Jacob Wallace. That was news to me. Turns out he is a senior right hand pitcher from Methuen, MA, who will be joining the Huskies next season.

Wallace returns to put Rangers on his back

Chris Jones during one late baseball broadcast had mentioned that he thought UConn had a California transfer coming into the UConn baseball program. I would think we have found our man on this one.

No mention that I have seen of any of the UConn high school recruits getting picked in the draft.

Amity should've been nationally ranked. There are atleast 7 D-1 players on the roster.

It's looking like a pretty good pipeline indeed. Vinny Siena and Sam Nepiarsky have already played for UConn, with Andy Hague and the two Winkel brothers still to come. Given how good the Amity baseball program is, it wouldn't surprise me if there were other Huskies with the Amity connection that I missed.

Twin brother...Teddy is a left-handed, OF/P

Great kids both great students with great character, from a great family. I've coached them and gotten to know them very well. I heard that Andy was close to committing. He's a tough, hand-nosed kid. High energy, tireless work ethic. Slick- fielding 2B, with great speed. He's a great fit for the program.

Andy Hague certainly sounds like the type of player that Coach Penders would be interested in.

This left-handed hitter has major juice in his hands. The ball jumps off his bat, he drove it well to both gaps.
At first base, his footwork needs improvement. He has soft hands and can catch the ball, but needs to have his feet in the correct place. If he gets his body into better shape, it will allow him to do some serious damage offensively.
