Men UConn Baseball 2026

D1 Baseball.com picks to click

Bradley Smart

Hudson Barrett, LHP, Oklahoma State

While Barrett already has a breakout season under his belt, posting a 1.95 ERA over 61 innings as a freshman at UC Santa Barbara back in 2023, he’s thrown just seven innings in the last two years after undergoing Tommy John surgery. A fully healthy Barrett could be one of the top southpaws in the country this year, armed with a mid-90s fastball along with a changeup or slider.

Ben Tryon, 1B/OF, Dallas Baptist

A physical corner outfielder and first baseman, Tryon hit .265 in 126 plate appearances as a sophomore for the Patriots but came on strong down the stretch and broke out in the Appy League. Tryon hit .336 with 14 extra-base hits over the summer and paced DBU in the fall at the plate while profiling as a dangerous middle-of-the-order lefthanded bat.

Cayden Suchy, LHP, UConn

Injury ended Suchy’s freshman year early after nine games (four starts) but expectations are high that the 6-foot, 200-pound southpaw can slot into the rotation this year. Armed with a feel for four pitches and the ability to pound the zone, Suchy looks like yet another reliable weekend arm for Jim Penders’ club.

Freshman Logan Charboneau is now no longer listed on the on line UConn baseball roster. The on line roster currently has 39 players listed on it.

If I recall correctly, I believe the NCAA roster limit for the 2026 baseball season is 34 players.

I wonder why, isn't he the big first baseman?

Looks like he may be headed to UConn Avery Point per his IG profile.

UConn baseball has another incoming 1B who is a big guy who looks pretty solid. Jackson Marshall, a transfer from Southern New Hampshire is a sophomore for the incoming season, and he started at 1B for UConn during fall ball exhibition games. Also, I saw him play several times in Future League games last summer, and he looked very good in those games.

This very well may have influenced why Logan Charboneau may be on his way to Avery Point.

Because of some weird NCAA ruling around either COVID or the changes to scholarship limits, you can have 40 but only 34 can travel or be on any particular game roster. In other words, you can have 6 practice squad guys.
