Bottom 8th, Morton with a leadoff single, he steals 2B with no out, and moves to 3B on a fly out for the first out. Morton is stranded. 3-2 TTU.

Top 9th, Willis comes in to pitch.

Solo homerun would be nice about now.

Bottom 9th, UConn goes down in order, Texas Tech wins 3-2. UConn plays at noon tomorrow, and needs to win to stay in the Tourney.

Bats needed to be ignited…pitching did their job.

So Coe tomorrow I would assume. Down two starters I can’t imagine who will pitch if they manage to win tomorrow…

Because we were getting nothing done all game I would have sent Morton. If he’s out you lead off ninth with best hitter. If he scored we likely win game as they momentum in the game was moving towards us.

He looks safe on replay. Wild. Still a dumb decision to steal, just a low percentage move.
Kron was put in specifically to pinch run and steal a base, and it's one of the lowest risk highest reward spots to try to steal 2B. Takes you from needing 2 hits to score Kron to 1 hit

2 Outs, Runner on 1st: 0.22 expected runs
2 Outs, Runner on 2nd: 0.33 expected runs

Exactly. That is why I have been a huge fan for many years of trying to steal 2B with 2 outs. If you don't steal 2B, unless a batter comes up with an extra base hit, it would require a least 2 batters get on base safely with the second one getting a hit for the run to score.

I’m not gonna second guess Penders here.

Me neither. I'm not about to second guess a guy who has gotten UConn to 5 straight NCAA Tourneys and 9 out of the last 13. Coach Penders has really put UConn baseball on the map with his accomplishments.
