UConn Baseball 2018

Legendary #UConn Avery Point head coach and UConn baseball distinguished alum Roger Bidwell surprised the team with a visit to morning practice today. Thanks coach for coming out! #UConnNation

Coach Penders has very good reason to be proud of his team. In a season where Tim Cate pitched only 7 innings of AAC regular season baseball, the team finished in a tie for third in the conference. It's another reason why I'm reasonably optimistic about next season.

Is it ok to get greedy and picture a world where Susi, Poulin, Toppa, Winkel, and Burrows are all on the team next year?

I see it as a win-win situation, at least for the college guys. Either we get more respect for producing a multitude of picks or next year's team is even better.

During this three year period of 500 strikeouts or more by the UConn pitching staff, the Huskies have had seven pitchers taken in the MLB draft. I don't think it will be a big surprise to anyone if at least two more UConn hurlers (Mason Feole and Jacob Wallace) are drafted next year.
