This team has some soul searching to do. Way too many outs on the base paths, poor defense and inconsistent pitching. 4-8 is not a team ready for Omaha. Maybe read too many of the pre season headlines.

Coach Penders says the team has to learn how to finish. Even with the mistakes they were making all game, competed well until the 8th inning, when the wheels totally came off. Most interesting part of the interview concerns Kyler Fedko that is well worth listening for in the last part of the interview. Talk about an injury he had in the preseason, plus what was going on with his swing.

Obviously the record is not good. But there have been only too bad losses in my mind, today’s game and the loss to Davidson. Hopefully they can turn it around and gain a split and head to Philly next week.

These last two games in Lubbock are hardly going to be a walk in the park. Hopefully they can get a quality start out of Austin Peterson tomorrow, as the starting pitcher situation is going to be especially interesting Monday morning with Gallagher having been used today. Also, the big guys at the end of the bullpen have been used to a certain degree, which will certainly impact the next two games in how they might be used. Plus every mistake they make in games against Texas Tech really gets magnified in these games, as the Red Raiders really have the tools to take advantage of them.

The thought of limping out of Texas at 4-10 is something many of us did not expect
The season is young but time flies and UConn better find ways to fix those little things that are creating havoc with this team winning games they should.
Let's go UConn

This is a good team despite the record. TT is a top 10 team playing at home. The wins will come in conference. The key is too build the pitching staff to be ready for May. These are no lose games because we have to win the conference to make the NCAA’S. They have battled in both games.

Agree about the pitching staff. The most important thing to me is sorting out who will end up as starting pitchers for the long run, and hopefully watching them develop as the season progresses.

I think Peterson can make a strong case to be the two starter with a good outing today

Peterson has looked good in his appearances. I expect he will be sticking around the starting rotation, but he has only had a few appearances this season. He needs to continue to perform, but I certainly like what he has done so far.

Lefty heavy lineup

First time this season Stock has not been in the lineup. I like the move of Christian Fedko to the 3rd spot in the batting order ahead of Pat Winkel and Reggie Crawford. Christian has one of the best on base percentages on the team, quite a bit higher than both Winkel and Crawford. Makes sense that with his on base percentage that he hit ahead of those two power threats.

We are going against a LHP starter today who actually had worse splits against lefties last year than righties. That is probably why Penders is rolling the dice witha very heavy left handed lineup.

I caught the game on demand and it was so hard watching things implode in the 8th last night. We are definitely capable of beating this team and we've done a lot well so far this weekend but the mistakes have cost us greatly. I expect we'll see a highly motivated team today who is ready to prove we are better than the record shows. If we don't, then we have a bigger problem on our hands than sloppy plays, bad at bats and pitching concerns. It's time to show what we are made of.

Rough day to be pulling an evening shift today... I hope everyone cooperates!

#HookC, #IceBus, #MBB/#SelectionSunday.

Clearly texas tech. Is a good team but our pitching this year is suspect. Walks and hit batters are killing us. Our relievers bring gas to put out the fires. This team needs to get turned around soon

Another byproduct of having both Simmons and Chris Winkel in the lineup today is that UConn has its three best defensive outfielders playing today.

Chris Jones says the wind is blowing at 20+ mph to left field. Could be a very offensive day.

Top 1st, Simmons singles but is thrown out trying to steal 2nd to end the inning. No score going to the bottom of the 1st.

Here we go again. A walk in between 2 hit by pitches loads the bases for Texas Tech with no out in the bottom of the 1st.
