Another byproduct of having both Simmons and Chris Winkel in the lineup today is that UConn has its three best defensive outfielders playing today.
 
Chris Jones says the wind is blowing at 20+ mph to left field. Could be a very offensive day.
 
Top 1st, Simmons singles but is thrown out trying to steal 2nd to end the inning. No score going to the bottom of the 1st.
 
Here we go again. A walk in between 2 hit by pitches loads the bases for Texas Tech with no out in the bottom of the 1st.
 
Sac fly makes it 1-0 for Tech. Two out. A single brings in another run to make it 2-0 going to the top of the 2nd.

Bottom 2nd, Texas Tech lead off single leads to another run. 3-0. Peterson hits another batter with one out. Athletic trainer comes out to the mound to check out Peterson, and he comes out of the game with some sort of injury. The news keeps getting worse this weekend with an injury to a starting pitcher who has been pretty effective in previous appearances this season.

Bullpen has a lot of innings to throw over the next couple of days.
 
Wang with two strikeouts to get out of the inning. Good to see him get some outs, as he hasn't been all that effective in previous appearances this season. 3-0 Tech.

Bottom 3rd, a single brings in a run with 1 out. 4-1. With the two hit by pitches this inning, this more resembles the Jimmy Wang we have seen previously this season. Another single brings in two more runs to make it 6-1. UConn pitchers with 5 hit by pitches so far today.

Bottom 4th, Sam Favieri takes the mound. Hits the first batter in the head.

Reggie Crawford out of the game. Chris Jones thinks he is having a problem with his contact lenses. Chris Winkel now playing 1B, Kevin Ferrer to LF, Simmons to CF.

Knew it was going to be big trouble when Peterson had to come out early due to the apparent injury. Don't know if the injury was the cause of his wildness in the 1st inning.

Doubt things are going to get any better tomorrow with a big question mark on who will be the starting pitcher for UConn.
 
8-1 after 4 innings. UConn pitchers now with 6 hit by pitches and 4 walks. Pretty depressing, with seeming no end in sight with the freebies from the pitchers.
