According to the UConn baseball schedule posted on the UConn athletics website, all four games played at Texas Tech will be carried WHUS. Keep our fingers crossed for good luck on this. So far, it has been a pretty pleasant surprise with all the games WHUS has carried.

@dbmill All four of that series is also on ESPN+.

People who frequent these baseball threads no doubt know my tendencies by now. For me, following UConn baseball and listening to Chris Jones broadcasts of the games on WHUS radio go hand in hand. To me there is no greater informational source on UConn baseball than Jones. I'm sure many who frequent these baseball threads would say I'm more than a bit obsessive about the radio coverage of the games that Chris Jones provides, and I would certainly admit that they are right.

Huh? I thought you preferred Crispino.

(I kid, I kid)

The Texas Tech athletics website has the Friday game at 7:30 eastern time and the Monday game as a 2pm eastern start. I would guess the information in this tweet is a bit more up to date, but we'll see what happens. There are supposed be thunderstorms Friday evening in Lubbock, so that would explain the time shift on that game.

I must say, I'm getting used to being able to put the game on the IPad while I work on weekdays and do whatever I'm doing on weekends. It would be better if we were winning more, but as solid as Chris Jones is I'm going to miss it when all we get is audio once we start conference play.

I’ve been to Lubbock. Saw tumble weeds
It’s not a great town but the Buddy Holly museum is a great way to kill 30 minutes 🤪

I hope eventually someone locks down the fourth weekend starter role. At this point it is just a revolving door until someone shows dinner promise and consistency.

Some info on Birdsell:

One of the best players in the entire country as a HS sophomore... has slowly pumped his stuff back up since 2016. Transfer from San Jac, Birdsell now sits 93-98/99 with serious ride on the heater. Threw 21 innings punching out 45 guys in 2020. Can get hit around a little bit, but the stuff is really good. Cutter/Slider at 88, mixes in a curveball that's fringy in the low 80s. Needs to work on developing a distinct shape for the pitch. Changeup is a work in progress and not part of the arsenal currently

Hate the timing of the game, love the at bats so far.

The forecast for thunderstorms this evening in Lubbock are the reason for it. The one good thing about the time change is that there won't be a conflict with men's basketball tonight.

Bottom 1st, Casparius struggling with his control at the start, walks the first two batters, and goes 3-0 on the third batter before coming back and getting a strikeout for the first out.

Following another strikeout, a double brings in two runs to give Texas Tech a 2-1 lead with two out. A ground out ends the inning.
