Keep Simmons in please

Coach Penders had some very positive things to say about Simmons in the postgame interview last night. I suspect that between his defensive reputation and with his hitting that he is currently displaying, he is going to see more playing time.

Top 5th, UConn comes up with two additional runs after the Simmons rbi double. Score is now 8-4.

Brendan O'Donnell takes the mound for the bottom of the 5th. His turn to try to throw some strikes. Gives up a leadoff homer.

Going to the top of the 6th. 10-4 Texas Tech after the outfield collision triple that removed the injured Simmons from the game.

Top 6th, UConn picks up a run from a Maycock double and a Chris Brown rbi single. Huskies strand two runners on base. 10-5.

Really starting to get concerned about Bushling's ability to throw over to first. Many of his throws are forcing our first basemen to make tough plays.

I agree, Bushling puts a lot of throws in the dirt. I noticed it last season as well. I've mentioned it before, but I like the idea of moving Bushling to 3B and playing Hague or possibly the freshman Padilla at SS. Obviously this would remove the Brown/Langer 3B combo from the lineup.

Wurster and Kenny Haus could eat up a fair amount of innings. Throw in Polonia and possibly Marrero as well. Not a bad idea.

You could add Justin Willis to this pitching grab bag for tomorrow as well.
