UConn 2026 Outbound Portal Transfers (*No transfer speculation until announced/posted*)

I don't think we lost as much quality to CSU as I thought we would.

I am good with how things have panned out thus far.
I can’t comment on what you thought we would, but we seem to have lost everybody we would have wanted to keep that didnt’ get a P-4 offer. If there’s a surprise, it’s how many kids got P-4 offers.

My instinct is that we didn’t seem to care a lot about keeping the kids who didn’t get P-4 offers. I find that unfortunate, as there are plenty of kids going to CSU who were helping or had the potential to help us, and continuity is good for the fanbase, but it is what it is and Candle absolutely should get the room to do it his way. I just hope he’s not like PP who felt so strong about doing it his way that he ignored the fact that he took over a team that had won the Big East the year before.

I wish we kept more non-P4 players around for the sake of continuity and sentiment, not as much because they were irreplaceable.

That said, a good opening season and I’ll mostly forget about it anyways

Yes he did, which is great, as long as you don’t aspire to play ball! He milked the system, but didn’t grow as a player.

Only part of the system he milked was sitting out this year's bowl game.

Otherwise, at least to me, it was transactional. He signed LOI's and contracts and schools paid him. When coaches wanted to play him, he played. In return he got some cash and a degree. hand-shake is square. Except for the bowl game. Which to me turns the handshake with UConn from being square to more like a rhombus.

In today's college football world, when the head coach leaves, the roster generally implodes. And, the new coach wants to and has to bring in players that are familiar with him and his system. It's not ideal and I don't want it to happen every season.

Felt that way didn't it. Breaking down the current outbound list we find

TO
P4 10
CSU 11
G5 1
FCS 4
The rest of the roster is either Portal uncommitted or non-Portal

Of the CSU guys, there were certainly some guys we all would love to have kept. My question is, once kids entered the portal, did that taint them in Candles eyes? Who knows. As I write this I feel like it is just a fools errand to try to figure it all out, me being the fool!! We play ball with the guys who suit up in National Flag Blue and White next fall. Two categories of FB players out there as far as I am concerned, UConn Huskies, and those who wish they were! Go Huskies.

I was hoping to see Terrence return to UConn. Oh well.
With the amount of talent Candle brought into the WR room, this is no surprise. He was going to be in a battle for snaps and the way things are looking now it would most likely be a limited number of snaps at best.

Well, come September if anyone is yearning for what next year's team could have looked like you can always tune in to a CSU game.

I’m very comfortable that this staff knows what it’s doing. I’m not sure what our record will be next year because of the massive turnover, but I’m confident we will have talent and hope for what can be.

I do wish we kept some of the obvious guys, Edwards and Neider in particular. I hate losing local kids that are really good.

Candle hates short players apparently.

I am starting to think they dont know there is a roster limit based on the number of people they keep signing... haha

the math is probably too complex for even the most powerful supercomputers, but when the dust settles it would be interesting to see the number of outbound transfers who went to a P4 school and see how many P4 players transferred in to UConn.

Would you settle for a dust is still settling number? As of this post we gained 14 P4 transfers and lost 10 UConn players to P4 schools. All I needed was some duct tape, a paper clip, a jello shot, and Excel.

It's hard to quantify the skills of the new players but they mostly had P4 offers or came from P4 schools. Would have been nice to keep Cam, Murawski and the other o-linemen, Nieder, Honig, Juice, Harper and a few others. I'm sure Mora went after the players that he thought would help him at CSU, like Candle did at Toledo.
