I was a bit surprised Malcom did not get more playing time the first 2 weekends of the season, considering how much talk there was about his offense after it was announced he was coming to UConn.

I was too. Penders did say in the postgame interview that he struggled a little in fall but, I'm glad he’s making the most of his opportunities and until he doesn’t he should be in the lineup

It sounded like Malcom struggled a bit with his defense at catcher in fall ball if I heard Coach Penders correctly in that interview. I heard he showed some good power in fall ball and during the preseason.

Close close play. That ball was pretty shallow to run on. Also felt the batter could have allowed a wild pitch to hit his leg earlier and get a freebee. Gotta play smart.

No prohibition against headfirst slides in college ball.
