That's my point... we're in a bag with Rhode Island and Mass and don't really merit any thought beyond that. And these are misperceptions that people are quite comfortable with.. they're not really interested in being illuminated.

Exactly. Which is part of the (very fair) reason that people have the perception of us that they do. It was the “easy” thing to do at the time - to not ever even consider revisiting the decision or work in conjunction with other leagues that were trying to play says a lot about our administrations commitment to football.
It wasn't the right decision they packed it in and left themselves no ability to pivot like so many other teams did. Everyone else played while UConn sat at home, it was a waste of two football seasons for a school who was trying to gain admittance to the P5. It was an awful decision which still has ramifications.
Especially Baylor folks. The athletic director and podcasters keep saying that UConn football is nothing and UConn doesn’t bring anything to the table. UConn football is 2-0 against Baylor.
No, everyone else decided money was more importantand there it is! A random strawman excuse! Everyone else learned enough to play football starting in September but we were still evaluating the situation at hand. Makes sense!
Did UConn also do that by beginning practice for basketball in the middle of October, or are you still rationalizing it by some made up idea that it was “safe” for hoops at that point and not football?
The timeline wasnt really September to November. That makes it sound like it was only an 8 week difference.
By October we already saw how other sports were going. Basketball is also a much smaller roster and the team was basically quarantined from everyone else
We cancelled our season on August 5th.

He dug his heels in and has chosen to die on this hill no matter what. Of course he knows it was the wrong decision as everyone else in the country played and the players were just fine. I guess it makes him feel better to say it was all about greed from all the dumbf^^k regions in the country.

It played into NOTHING. "UConn fans. Making excuses for trying to play football for 25 years" That should be our university tagline.
