Some other 3 point shooters: Vern Giscombe, surprised AJ Price isn't up there.
Phil Gamble was probably the first prolific 3 point shooter in UConn history. Brian Fair was another solid shooter. Albert Mourning was decent. Not a ton of guys during the 90’s besides the obvious(Ray and Rip) as those teams relied on running and solid inside games for most of the offense.

Loved watching Hobbs and Giscombe as a back court. Undersized but they left it all on the court.
Red Auerbach liked Giscombe. Too bad Dom preferred Bobby Dulin. Perno was just a horrible coach.

There are a few things I can’t let pass in this world, and Rashad Anderson disrespect is near the top of the list.

How could someone possibly publish a list of UConn’s best 3-point shooters and leave off Rashad, literally the school’s all-time leader in 3s made and the author of some of the clutchest shots in UConn history?

Who are the best 3-point shooters in UConn men's basketball history? Here's our list Who are the best 3-point shooters in UConn men's basketball history? Here's our list

To make up for this egregious snub, everyone should take some time today to watch 200+ of Rashad’s 3-pointers. Onions!

When he got inserted into the starting lineup in 2004 that team really took off. It was over when they got rolling.

Welp, it's obvious Christine doesn't have a shadow account on the BY. She would get way better information for her articles if she did.

The whole article is a mess and awkwardly worded.

Sheffer was a key part of a dynamic Husky trio with Allen and Kevin Ollie. These three led the Huskies to win three straight Big East Championships.
He is the only player in UConn history to record 1,000 points and 500 assists over three seasons. The Big East Rookie of the Year (1994)
ranks third on the Huskies' all-time Huskies for 3-pointers made per game (2.71) and in total 3-pointers made (95).
Gordon converted 104 threes over his last year at UConn, the third-highest in program history, and ranks sixth in 3-pointers made per game (2.67).

Here's the correct info:

Yeah she probably meant single season, but agree that it is horribly written.

Yeah, because Chris Smith is before her, and a career 40% 3PT guy for us. Also Rip was much better inside the arc than outside.

I never thought of Rip as a 3-point shooter. But the OP is right, Rashad belongs. He's why we beat Duke in 2004. And ask the UDub Huskies if they remember Rashad.

Rip was absolutely a 3 point shooter in college. Didn't translate to the pros, but he shot just under 38% on more attempts than Anderson.

Watch the beginning of the video that is the first post in this chat. UMass was up 34-13 and then Rashad did his thing making his first three 3-pointers of his career. Love the way his made shots often snapped the net.
And a little earlier it was 34-9. They scored the first 4 points of the 2nd half then UConn suddenly woke up.

Cannot help that - and I really like watching him play- he wasn't a starter much after his Soph year so volume of shooting wasn't there in Junior/Senior year

Agreed - didn't shoot a lot of volume 3s but then Chris Smith came in and was their SG and shot a lot more 3's with better pct.

It's funny, Rip's career stats from 3 are pretty good but I likewise had the reaction that he wasn't a great 3-point shooter, and I think it's because he shot a rather mundane 34.7% from 3 as a junior. He really improved his scoring from inside the arc as a junior.

I was also surprised looking at Rashad's stats how dreadful a junior season he had. Was he banged up? He shot 31.3%. He shot really well his other 3 years.

Probably for the same reason his minutes went down over time: because he wasn't a great overall player and everybody else on that list was. But, sure, if you asked me to name a 3-point specialist, the two names that would come to mind are Rashad and Brian Fair.

Rashad made some clutch threes for sure.
If my memory serves me, wasn't his shot quirky, where he had very little rotation?

He was definitely one of, if not the greatest closing minutes clutch shooters we've ever had.

Anderson had pretty serious staph infection in his leg that sidelined him in the middle of the season.

I was there for that game, drove 31/2 hours to get there and the ride home seemed like at least twice that long .
That game sucked. I went too. The biggest issue I had with it was the arena looked like Gampel during Ollie’s last year. They weren’t a good team and their fans knew it. Still, we blew it.

I don’t believe the list was about great overall players it was about great 3 point shooters. And he certainly was one of the best we ever had.
