UCLA vs Oregon - 3/03/18

27-17 UCLA 6 minutes til halftime. Bruins look quicker and more energetic.

Ducks were down as much as 11 or 12, but suddenly heating up and have closed to 32-27. Back to back 3's by Bando and Ionescu. Just under 2 minutes til halftime.

34-32 UCLA at the half. 13-2 run to end the half for UO, this game turned around in a hurry. So I was wrong above, lead had grown to 13 for UCLA.

Oregon's run continues into Q3, have retaken the lead 37-34. Now an 18-2 run spanning to quarters. Momentum has swung BIG TIME in this game. Cazorla continues to impress me.

UCLA finally stops the bleeding and grabs the lead back.

Canada has an assist:turnover ratio of 0:3 but has taken a team high 11 shots.
Shouldn't there be a little PG-bashing?

She's the Pac 12 career leader in assists, so she might get a little bit of leeway.

Not as high scoring as anticipated, but this is an entertaining back and forth game. UCLA up 44-42 2:42 left in Q3, Oregon shooting FTs.

UCLA 51-48 after 3Q. Could be a great finish to this game. UCLA crashing the O boards, that's their winning formula.

Hebard and Billings have pretty much battled each other to a stand still. Trading buckets the last several possessions. 58-52 UCLA w/ 6:05 left, Billings will be shooting FTs. Sabally committed a foul but got the worst end of it, got a knee to the stomach.

62-56 UCLA, last media TO, 4:52 left.

Jump ball on 3 straight possessions. That's fairly unusual. Both teams competing hard.

Oregon got a steal and had a chance to retake the lead, but UCLA stole it back on the other end. Bruins by 1, 2:17 left, bench TO.

Ionescu has had her pocket picked 2 possessions in a row. Same score.

65-62 Oregon. UCLA hasn't scored for 4+ minutes. 17.3 seconds left.

Dean's 3 at the buzzer is just long. Ducks kinda steal one, but UCLA didn't finish strong. It's hard to beat a good team 3 times in one season, but Oregon did it to UCLA.

Ionescu w/ 17 points, Hebard 15 (and 13 boards), Cazorla 14 and Bando 11.

Canada 19, Billings 18 (9 boards), Burke 14.

Oregon ended the first half with a 13-2 run, and ended the second half with a 10-0 run. Clutch when it mattered. Hebard with a double-double plus 4 blocks and a steal. Ionescu, Bando and Cazorla combined to go 56% from 3.

Good call. That's kind of like the UConn-Texas game where the Huskies went on a run at the end of every quarter.

Oregon’s 3-point shooting was big for them. Sometimes, players struggle to score late in a close game. Having a strong inside threat or a clutch shooter like Diana or Kaleena is a huge advantage.
