Wow. I expected UConn to win. I did not expect the Huskies to completely dominate UCLA from the jump.

Every player that hit the floor, like Geno said post game, exceeded our expectations. Just bravo!!!!!

Sunday will be tough for sure. It’s not going to go like it did in February. That being said, UConn has the pieces. Go UConn!!!

In his post-game interview with Scott Van Pelt Geno said that everyone who stepped on the court played well and it was a joy to watch. I could not agree more with him.

Great games by Azzi and Sarah. Though Paige was not her sharpest, still a very good game for her and the great defense of the team.
Happy for Jana playing so well in front of her parents.
Play of the game was Paige's tap assist on the fast break.

This game reminds me of the Men's championship against Purdue and Zach Edey last season. Betts got her points but nobody else did on UCLA. I believe this was the first game this year where Betts scored more than 20 but UCLA lost.

Betts had a terrific game on offense with 26 points against a very good UConn defense focused on containing her but she had only 5 rebounds to Sarah’s 8, and Jana’s 8. Paige also had 5.

I don’t know what the overall head to head record is but Geno coaches circles around Close. What a clinic in game preparation.

I noticed a little full-court pressure after scores by UCLA. With 1:30 to go in the game down by 30. I didn’t notice any earlier, may have missed it, but if so it wasn’t much. Why not start, say, halfway through the second quarter down by 15 when there’s still a chance and it might give them some energy?

You had to figure that part of the strategy on Betts was to make it hard to pass the ball into the post. I think most thought that it would be difficult because of the perimeter defense...low and behold, it was Jana making it difficult. She led UConn in steals with four and contested on additional passes.

You are right, so it was actually the 3rd time UConn has beaten a team by more than 30 in the Final Four....I was quoting what I read on the ESPN board on TV.

That was the first 30+ point margin in a Final Four semifinal game. They didn’t say it was the only 30+ point margin in all Final Four games.

I watched the halftime interview of a winded Azzi by Holly. Azzi basically told Holly, this is the final 4, I can’t be worried by missed shots. Obviously this credo worked for her in this game and hopefully this attitude will carry over to the championship game and as I said before, she is the key that will carry us to a Championship !
