OT: UCF. LSU game

Nah. We turned down a long series with ND and completely removed ourselves from the national picture in the process. It was a mistake not to take the deal and remain more visible.

The attention generated by a UCF/Florida series would be worth it just for recruiting alone in the state of Florida.

An aside: Could our friends at ESPN have done more bashing of UCF and the non-P5 programs. They are treating college football like its amprivate country club. I'd like to see ESPN go out of business. They completely forgot their early years when they struggled for a audience with their Australian Rules football.
We honestly laughed and called it Eastern Soccer Programming Network at the start.

Yep. UCF should take the deal with UF. The narrative that UCF can’t hang with LSU is stupid. With Milton UCF wins this game by 20 points. Without dropping easy catches, this version of UCF wins by 14 today.
With Milton vs. LSU with regular defensive players LSU still wins probably. On a good day UCF (or AAC) can beat a good SEC team but week in & week out UCF would be a middling SEC team. That said UCF could play at high level in rest of P5 probably just not SEC.

I can’t argue this, but I felt UCF missed several TD opportunities that they basically never miss on. The drops were painful and uncharacteristic.

The game turned on the 3rd down sack in LSU territory where the UCF guy spiked the ball, got a 15 yard penalty which gave LSU a 1st down and they marched down for a TD. Upon reflection was that a 4th down sack?

Florida is ducking them and this is a great pr stunt. They dodge them by offering an abysmal deal for UCF.

You can run from the truth. You can hide from the truth. You can suppress the truth. You can deny the truth. You can't make the truth into falsehood. You have to deal with the world as it is, and not as you want it to be. What I said is true. It may be unfair. It remains true.

The "Florida is ducking UCF with a PR stunt" narrative is a very self-serving narrative for UCF. It's not an obvious conclusion because of the difference in status between Florida and UCF. The people who matter (defined as "the P5") will not accept that narrative as true. No one is going to shame Florida into changing its mind. So UCF can sulk in its wounded pride and get nothing, or it can accept the terms and get to play the games.

Which is better? 1. Playing the games on Florida's terms? 2. Standing on principle and getting no games whatsoever? It's not like Florida has to play UCF. Florida won't have trouble finding opponents. And if Florida wins, it won't have trouble getting into the CFP race. UCF is looking to improve its SOS. UCF has to make the concessions.

You give them eyes, but they cannot see...
