Great come from behind win on the road. I have tried to steer away from the Fagnano-Evers debate like the plague as I try to call what I see and not stick to a narrative, but Fagnano has to start now. Evers will look good at times but then doesn't execute the basic plays and reads. To be fair he hasn't been helped out much with the wr drops, Bell had an even worse game then Evers.

Mora could make the qb change creatively, tells Evers, we still believe in you but we wanna get you healthy and right. It does help that Fagnano is a senior so much less qb controversy moving forward.
Agree but this isn't complicated. Play the guy that gives you the best chance to win. Mora hasn't done that so far because he's seems invested in the success of Nick as the future guy. The best way to speak to any player not starting is to be honest about where they need to improve and provide a pathway and plan to get there. If the improvement is not adequate you should already have been doing that with the other guys in the same position group. Controversy among fans is a given. But objective progress should be the metric for coaches, not the expectations you had going into the process. And you need to to remember that recruiting and retention of skill players on offense will be impacted by the kind of offense you run. Unfortunately ours had shrunk down to accommodate the limitations of our QB, and you could see the frustrations of the players. The dramatic shift with JF should be all you needed to see when plotting out the path forward. At least for the rest of this season.

Yes, let's hope Jim can take advantage of the out he's been given. Beating Cuse would be huge and it won't happen with Nick.
let's be clear - it won't happen with JF either.

Syracuse is simply a step above.

but - football is a game of momentum and offensive success can translate to defensive success. I think if we have JF running the offense we can lose 35-21, as opposed to 41-3. Those optics will help us, IMO.

We're playing Syracuse, not the '95 Cowboys. This attitude by some is astounding.

Are they favored? Yes
Can we win? Also yes...

Watching The Giants, Evers might be better than Daniel Jones. :(Least clutch QB ever Even if they come back. Two INT in close.

Obviously Fagnano should start, but, despite what some on the BY think, there has been no QB “controversy”. Mora never wavered in his choice. Arguably we might have beaten Duke with Fagnano, we will never know, but they are better than us. We might have beaten Wake, we will never know. Realistically, maybe Fagnano would have gotten us 1 more win, maybe not. The team overcame spotty QB play. I like this season.

Giants tied with a FG, will go to OT Two bad teams showing Germany the greatness of US football.

And Indiana, who we beat in the first game played at the Rent, is 10-0 for the first time ever. Cignetti must be one hell of a coach!
Cignetti is a miracle worker damn. His entire career he only has 35 total losses. The dude just gets teams to win

I didn't realize it until I read an article that @HuskyNan posted, but we've now matched our season win total against the AAC (granted, we're not in their conference, but it's close enough).
During its 7-year stint in the AAC, UConn only won four conference games once (2015).
Also, as much as I've been disappointed with how Evers had played, the comeback yesterday doesn't happen without Evers getting that first TD after halftime. Still, I'm glad that Fagnano was able to come in and guide the team to a come from behind road win.

and we are Connecticut, not a Georgia Tech taking on Miami.
I wanna win as bad as the next fan.
We will get there soon, I believe. Next game is a little too soon.

IFFFFFF we win, though - please use this as your receipt to trash me - I hope you get that opportunity!

You do realize that we beat a ranked team as recently as 2022, when we finished with a .500 record, right?

We don't need to be Georgia Tech. We can be UConn...

I agree that it’s unlikely we beat Syracuse. However, we played Wake Forest and Duke very close and with some fair officiating probably win both of those games. Syracuse is better than both those teams, but we will be playing with a quarterback who has shown better ability to move the ball and we’ve added a little depth to the running back position in terms of playing the right guys more. Covering the Cuse receivers will be the challenge.

On another note, I’m pretty excited that with more NIL money on the way and a gunslinger QB waiting in the wings, the future looks bright. In the next year or two we should be able to beat just about any team we play if we can keep the current energy going. Dave Benedict should be feverishly raising money to throw at Brock in the offseason.

In the past the board has pointed out that our QB play was clearly worse that our opponents. That's been true since Pindel. Not last night. JF can really sling it. Opens up the run game and makes it fun to watch.
We some luck we can go 10-3 with him the rest of the way, along with Bell, Sheffield, Honig, and our running backs.

I went to the Syracuse/BC football game yesterday and I had a few takeaways.

Syracuse's OL is big, but they are not athletic and struggle to run block. Thus, Syracuse has to be a pass oriented team. McCord can make the throws and Syracuse has some good receivers, but if the pass protection collapses, he is not quick or fast. The key will be to pressure McCord.

On defense, the Syracuse DL does not appear to be big and they were manhandled by BC's OL and BC rushed for over 300 yards. UConn's strength is running the ball, so that should be positive for UConn.

This will be a tough game for UConn and the point spread will probably be 8+, but I do think it is a winnable game.

We could win the MAC this year, we'd be top half of the AAC with hopes of championship play but Evers would hold us back.

We're making steps, they aren't amazing steps. We are still miles from the top 25 but things are moving and an 9-3, 8-4 record could look good. Hell, 10-3 would be unlikely but its not impossible and that would look REALLY good.

respectfully, fair officiating does not equate to "probably" winning those games. At best, fair officiating in critical moments puts the game's result entirely in the hands of the 2 teams, which is all we should expect from refs. They should never win or lose the game for anyone.

Refs aside, we still would have had to make plays that we'll never know if we would have. Point being, we MAY have won either or both games. "Probably" is a stretch.

Play the game before you announce the result.

Undefeated for the next two weeks, 1-0.
