Fuller's report on the Italy game yesterday. The New Haven Register Blogs: Elm City to Eagleville

"UConn rising sophomore Crystal Dangerfield had 11 points and tied a U.S. tournament record with nine assists as the six-time defending champions held off a spirited challenge from host Italy 66-49 to finish play in Group A undefeated.

Dangerfield also had five rebounds and two steals, South Carolina's Tyasha Harris had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and five steals."

As expected Japan is easily beating Korea and Canada is beating Mexico. Both Japan and Canada are leading by more then 20 points. They will advance.

She very easily could have had 5-6 more assists but her teammates were not able to convert the near perfect scoring passes she gave them. She gave 6'3" Jordan Holmes a perfect pass under their basket (who had lost her man), and she missed the bunny. :(

France is leading Hungary by 9 points in 3rd Quarter. Surprising that Latvia is leading Australia in 2nd quarter.

Order Being Restored Australia leading Latvia by 4 points at the half

Comparisons: United States of America v Puerto Rico - 26 Jul - FIBA.basketball

Presuming USA beats Puerto Rico, they'll play the winner of France vs Hungary. Probably France.

Will post YouTube Link in the morning.
PR--a National Team --from a USA Territory that want's State status??---anyway, they are a tough team and have some talent --no a game for USA to take lightly. France over the years have put up fair to good teams--this one isn't fair.
I want to thank you for presenting these sites--for us Surfing challenged --thanks.

31-10 USA at the end of the 1st QTR. USA looks like a completely different team from yesterday. Better defense, much better passing and sharing the ball. This one is over. Puerto Rico is 0-3, and it's not hard to see why. They are not nearly as talented as the USA. Crystal looks like a card dealer in Las Vegas. She should have 10 assists by now. She's giving her teammates good passes, they're just not converting them.

The USA should exceed 100 points today.

Danger did good--but I expect her to be even better in the scoring dept--defense was good, PG job more than well done. She is a leader
Walker, Megan--Defense needs help, she'll get that with Geno, she has one beautiful shot--some of her shots were rushed--the emotions of the moment--with Uconn you'll see a scorer because she is.
I am more than pleased with the efforts and abilities of UConn's kids
The McClaren Clone (forgot her name) is really good--faster, more mobile, able to make it up and down the floor--and strong under the basket.

Crystal seems to have lost her scoring touch recently - I think she was something like 3-14 yesterday and is 0-5 today. However, have been watching the game and she is a very "in control" floor general. It's obvious she's the leader when on the court.

USA leads Puerto Rico 54 -22 at the half. Puerto Rico severely over matched.

Both Crystal and Megan aren't having good shooting days.

Just think how many she could've had last season if butler could've held onto the ball and finished at the basket?

USA Wins 104 -46 in a complete blowout.

Live Stats: FIBA Live Statistics

Great team play today they need continue to play like that every game if they want to win gold. Also nice to see Ty Harris set a new USA U19 assist record with 10, she seems to be improving very well.

OTHO, did anyone watch Russia v. Mali?? Maria Vadeeva with a MONSTER game putting up 22 points and 23 rebounds!!! Her and Raisa Musina should REALLY consider getting an American Education!! Both are tremendously talented!!

I think Geno has made it very clear, "No more Russians after having to deal with Svet." ;)
