U17 World Championships: USA v Italy (7/21/18)

I know she had a slight hand injury during tryouts, but I'm still trying to figure out why Caitlin Clark is not on this team, given her play in Argentina. Her calmness under pressure could be beneficial against some of Italy's swarming. In the long run of this game, I don't think it will matter, but she would've been a benefit to this (or any) team.

Osborne sets up shop outside the line and drains a 3.

Belibi showing why she made the team.......rebounding and finishing inside

Quick hops. She's halfway up while Italian girls are still on their feet.

Cooke has a lot of athletic and hoops talent, but it seems like the ball is always in her hands when she's in there, for better or for worse.

not sure about her offensive skills right now but there's no denying how athletic she is...........if she develops her mid range game she' s going to be hard to handle

loose handle, forcing shots but I think she's just trying to do too much knowing she's getting limited minutes with all of that other guard talent...........

Lol. Makes me think of an all-star game. Honestly, if you're a teammate you just start getting back down the court in a defensive stance because the rock ain't coming back... "Microwave" moments.

Hailey Van Lith going off at end of the third and seeing some excitement on the bench.

Celeste Taylor has made some good plays on both defense and offense. Has a nice way of letting the game come to her but picking her moments. Excellent team player.

Jones has shown off the spin move, the post up, the three, the dribble to the basket in transition. Trying to think of something she doesn't do well.

Bueckers with a ridiculous, improvised floater.

Van Lith uses a Brink screen and drives for two. I have her 5-6 for 12 points.

Bueckers drains a pull-up jumper baseline.

Both Brink and Brunelle appear to be struggling in what is essentially mop up duty.

Only watched the second half and with exceptions of Hailey Van Lith & Bueckers the USA shooting has been crappy. Isn't Brunelle supposed to be a shooter? I have yet to see it. Cooke looks like she needs to be a feature player.
I guess I'll see more teamwork as they play more games but right now the second half looked a lot like playground ball, lots of drives into double teams, lots of flash and lots of missed shots. Then I didn't see Bueckers play much. :)
