U Miami looking to build a 40k stadium closer to campus.

Miami is where DonnaShalala wanted them to be. A pretty good program that might compete for ACC titles from time to time but never for national championships unless it is a fluke. I was told this by someone in the athletic dept when they first moved to the ACC and nobody believed it. But it was a major motivating force for the move. Miami wasn't stupid. They knew the ACC was not that strong. But the folks there felt they could get the program under control.

Yeah other sources say it isn't a myth and that Panthers was owned by someone else somehow. Name fits them well whatever the reason.

I've been to UMiami "home games" at Sunlife Stadium. It is an awful ride from the campus to Miami Gardens, 21 miles through the thick of Miami traffic. The parking lots are crowded and tight, difficult tailgating atmosphere. Just not a pleasant experience. The old Orange Bowl was much closer to the campus and much more convenient all the way around. The move to Sunlife Stadium and the general decline of football at the "U" has caused much of the issue. A smaller more convenient stadium has to help. They use to pack the old Orange Bowl (75k - 80k)
