What were the national ranks on those SAT scores? I am surprised they are that low. I thought the new SAT was scored easier than in the old days. My kid got a 1570 and I thought that was great but maybe washed down a little compared to 30 years ago. Maybe not.

It’s hard to compare them to other states because the percentage of students taking the SAT varies so greatly from state to state. In CT, the SAT is a mandatory test for all high school juniors. Even though the test is not mandatory in FL, 97% of high school students took it in 2017-2018. Meanwhile, the average SAT score was 1298 in Minnesota, but only 4% of students took the test.

I’d say 1570 is impressive in any era, by the way.
