The past weekend's Iowa vs. Indiana Game drew a million viewers. It was the second game of the 2023-2024 season to exceed that mark. As far as I remember, only one game (LSU @ SCar) exceeded 1 million last year during the regular season. I hope we have a few more this year.

Here is a summary of the games that have exceeded 199,000 viewers to date. I believe our friend @awhom111 will be adding games through the end of the season. Perhaps we'll close it then and open a new thread to track the tournament viewership (?)

Two things jump out at me with the awesome chart that @visitingcock composed:
1. The drop off from 2nd to 3rd is huge
2. SC doesn't appear until game 5, 11 and 13 and UConn doesn't appear until game 4, 7, 10

There are still quite a few marquee games left on the schedule that I do think will have 900K sets of eyeballs on them so thanks for putting this together. I do know that attendance has jumped up in quite a few programs this year as well (ticked up would have been understating the amount some teams have had increases-heck, even UConn is up over 700 fans a game this year).

I think this is pretty clearly the year of Caitlin and the Big Ten.

Notice that Indiana is in both million viewer games. That's pretty astounding because i don't think that many people were interested in Tennessee this year. Of course, Indiana IS a basketball state. Still, I don't see it as big an attraction as Caitlin and Indiana.

If SCar and UConn win out til they meet in about 2/3 weeks, that could be a biggie too.

Are the numbers available for ACCN and SEC ESPN network games? Big Ten games on Peacock? Assuming numbers are low if can't find them.

I could see South Carolina at LSU being jumping in somewhere between #1-3 on that list. ESPN will be hyping it up and, of course, it's a big matchup between heavyweights.

As I understand it, games are only reported this year if there are over 100k viewers. Important SEC games and ACC games are usually shown on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU rather than the conference networks. I think some BTN games have been over 100k and some BTN tournaments games last year were over 200k.

I’m not aware of any of the streaming channels being over 100k but I could be wrong. Maybe @awhom111 csn provide a more accurate answer

Last year, undefeated LSU at Scar was bigger than anything so far this year. Indeed, the numbers were shocking. Not sure it will be that big this year , indeed, I doubt it. That LSU loss to Auburn will probably lessen the anticipation.

I @awhom111s tv viewership thread that got closed ( and for some unknown reason deleted) , I had added the known attendance figures for the games that had made the viewership list. Because it was deleted I can’t retrieve that info.

Generally, I agree that attendance is up. UConn is up 700 and they pretty much fill their home arenas. SCar is up over 1000 fans per home game ( not so much on the road). Iowa is sold out and has about 14,900 per home game PLUS they are packing them in for Big Ten road games. ( I think they may set a new record for total attendance). LSU sold out for season tickets but they haven’t really shown up with full attendance - which is understandable from the view of their home opponents thus far.

I expect the Big Ten to smash attendance records as it appears they smash their total viewership records

The UConn/SC game happening on Super Bowl Sunday might mean they get a fair amount of eyeballs. Last year the match-up brought in 1.087 million viewers.

I must say I'm shocked about that TN/Indiana game having such an incredibly high number. But it's kinda neat.

Do we think the last game to top it was the game when Stanford ended UConn's 90-game winning streak? Clearly I'm biased, but it's hard to think of a regular season game from that year that would have gotten more eyeballs.

Edited to add: appears so.

I've been wondering when the stats would come out. Thanks for the post! 1.56 million viewers and it beat out the NBA! Wow!
On my Twitter all I saw was all these high profile athletes, commentators and even football folks tweeting over SC/LSU. The game was a fantastic display for great athletes, coaching from both teams in a electric environment.

@awhom111's report from last weekend. Three biggies over 200k and the UNC v UVA was pretty good considering the channel!
