Didn’t realize the New Pornograohers dropped an album two years ago. Heard the opening track below on the radio the other day and love to see they’re still doing their thing: power pop w catchy hooks.
Love the Modfather, but that album was released in 1992. He's released 17 albums since then. I haven't listened to most of them, but Stanley Road (1995) is a keeper for me.I downloaded the newest album by one of the best under rated singersong writers. I've been playing this constantly for the past week. Some very soulful tasty music from Paul Weller of The Jam and The Style Council fame.

You're right, I stand corrected, lol. I meant to say he just released a new album but I still go back to this album, his 1st solo and have been playing it most of last week. His current release is by the way good. Thanks, I will check out Stanley Road.Love the Modfather, but that album was released in 1992. He's released 17 albums since then. Weller is the only artist besides Lennon & McCartney to have #1 albums in the UK in five different decades.
Obscure artist: Actual Wolf has a throwback sound. Kind of reminds me of CSNY. I love the guitar tone in this one.
Sturgill Simpson, Morning Dew with Dead and Company
I like the album as a whole, but not sure what he's up to now. Faded Days is another gem off the album. I think his voice having a hint of Neil Young (?) hooks me. What did you think of the rest of it?He's got Just the one album.... checking it out on Spotify now..... thanks.
Much as I would love to get at least one more recording from Karl, who would put it together? He'd been talking up a new album "coming soon" since 2004. Only person I can think of who could do it is Peter Gabriel, who got to know Karl, his music, and inspirations really well during the recording of "Big Blue Ball".I am in the waiting room for the unreleased World Party album Karl was working on before he died. Since @QDOG5 thread last October, World Party has been a top five listen for me. That man is an undeniable genius. You want poetry? "You're a Hurricane, I'm a Caravan". You want pop/rock, "Way Down Now". Social Commentary? Everything! Ship of Fools is Oasis five years before Oasis. The rare band you can shuffle play, and not need to skip.
I hope something gets put on a soundtrack and blows up like Kate Bush did a couple years back. Get the music in front of the ears, the rest will take care of itself.
