took a ride with gg gramms to Seaside Park ('sucie park' for the eastern euro immigrants waaay back when) before the chanuka dinner the other day. of course, i made some duck for that. 'what, no goose?' she says. funny girl, that one.
she's been going there, regularly, for over 70 years. 'and that's where uncle joe almost burned the park down, and that's where cuzin helen lost the ring, which we later found, and that's where i saw the wraps come off the Columbus statue designed by gg grammps friend, and that's where we took that family, right off the train, who just got here from the 'camps.' ur ggrammps brought out a lot of folks from the crapistan camps to America. they all thought this place was heaven.'
settin in the truck by the west end near the lighthouse, windows open a bit to let the cold, sweet, salt air rip in, kind of suddenly there appeared a 100 or more seagulls in front of us. looking for escargot or something.
for me, this is now a holiday tune.
(nice to see that the city took away those cages that they had around both the PT Barnum and Columbus statues. aboot time.)
