Tulsa Game Thread

Good for Geno. Love seeing him pissed at how the team played in the first half. Totally justified. Glad to see extended minutes for Crystal and some good 1st half minutes for Irwin. Unfortunately Kyla is not a good defender, but I think Geno was trying to make a point. Chateau de bow wow indeed...
 
"Geno you ended the half with Katie Lou and Gabby Williams on the bench. What can you say to them to get them going in the 2nd half"?

"Uh-m-m, it's February. If I have to say anything to get anybody going in February then you know what? We got a lot of problems".
 
I wouldn't be surprised to see Williams on the bench the rest of the game.
 
Williams tends to always play well. When she is giving anything less, that's a problem. Kara says she's in "the chateau de bow wow." Maybe. Or maybe Geno is tired of people standing around waiting for her to bail everybody out; she's done it often enough. Maybe he wants them to learn to win without Lou and Gabs.

No way. He was sending a message to Williams that she was not playing to her potential.

Any coach that is not pissed by a performance like that from a team like this should be fired.

Katie Lou seems to rush her shots today and Gabby didn't play her usual are the reason they are on the bench. But, watch out for them in second half.
 
When Geno said early in the season that this team, "needs to get their ass beat", I treated it largely as hyperbole. But when the Huskies play like this, without a sense of urgency, Geno's comments really hit home.

They've honestly played one good half out of the last 5. I haven't really been pleased with their overall play since the first half of Houston. I mean, the first half against Temple now looks like an anomaly.

He did that at least once last year. I think it's rude and disrespectful to the interviewer. I know he's angry but she's just doing her job.

Rebecca recapping UCONN first half on ESPN2 in the break between the MD-Indiana game and SC-Arkansas game. They showed Justine's brief Geno halftime interview, and the ESPN2 crew were also speechless. Just something like, "Hmmmmmm... That was succinct."
 
Geno was rather animated before the team broke the huddle.
 
Meg said the half time for UConn was probably colorful. Geno on the sidelines before the start of the 2nd certainly is colorfully jawing.
 
Nurse with the first 4 in the half.
 
Gabby just picked up her first foul. The teams FIRST THIS GAME.

Collier is just so steady its scary. She played all 20 mins in the first.
 
We're going to limp through the rest of this game and win something like 80-48 on the strength of our superior talent and athleticism.

Geno's already thinking ahead to practice tomorrow (or maybe later today).
 
Nurse missed another layup while looking for the foul. Then comes back for the 3. Nurse however looking gimpy. Lou actually almost got a rebound.
