Because she was bumped, grabbed and fouled. That's the point.I think Sarah missed more shots at the rim in the last two games than she did for the entire season previously.

She looked like a tired athlete. I'm not sure playing her 27 minutes a game in the league had her ready for the gring in the playoffs. Azzi looked very similar and if those two aren't at least good UConn has no shot because the others just don't score enough.I think Sarah missed more shots at the rim in the last two games than she did for the entire season previously.
More points on FTs than the MOV... hmm...I think it was 22-6
18 for 22 and 4 for 6
No, the refs didn't call fouls on SC, regardless of the opponent. But my point was that this year SC did not foul much regardless of opponent. A 39 game sample is a pretty big one. That being said...bummer of a loss!
This is a fair question to ask. On one hand, rest might avoid injuries. On the other hand, you wonder if they are in game shape. She looked like a tired athlete. The same thing occured in their game. You won't hit your shots if you are fouled.Well at least Booker made Azzi look good the way she shot
There’s truth in your comments. And I think everyone who follows South Carolina was afraid UConn would come out with that same intensity we saw last year. The other thing is, it was just one of those nights where your shots were not falling. That’s a game changer for any team. We’ve had several of those. It’s not an indictment of your team. I wouldn’t wanna play UConn 25 times. After several days of gathering my thoughts and refraining from posting anything, I conclude we just didn’t have the fire in our bellies.
Strange but definitely calculated.Bottom line, in painfully rewatching the game, "mauling" is a good word for SC's defense on Sarah. She took at least 6 shots to the kidneys that could have caused damage. That being said, you adjust to the game and UConn was not able to so give SC credit. No reason to think Sarah or Azzi needed more rest, we needed to have played a tougher schedue, or any other theories. This level of pushing, hitting, etc. typically gets called but in any game there is always the chance that strange things happen and this was one of those games.
