Trying to fill bus to Philly

10pm game local time? No thanks. I dont mean specific to uconn fans. No game needs to start that late unless its being played on west coast. Even with the the tournament playing on 15 channels at once they couldn't manage a more reasonable start. All glory to money!
It's always been like this. There are usually 2 night games at a venue and the later one usually starts around 9:30 or 10:00.

I remember being at the TD Garden in Boston for the Sweet 16 games in 2024 on a Thursday night. Our game against San Diego St. tipped off at 7:39. The second game between Iowa St. and Illinois started after 10:00. I didn't get out of there until about 12:30 am. Which did seem kind of ridiculous at the time but it's always like this.

.-.
Yep. I'll probably take a nap after dinner. 😉
I've resigned myself to DVRing it and watching it bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning with the Mrs. Not much of a difference to watching live and instantly going to bed.
Having 2 east cost teams (UConn & Furman) play at 10 is silly.
Having 2 Big East teams in the East region is criminal.

How old are some of y'all if a 10pm start time on a Friday night is putting you in a blender? My pops is 83 and even he is wide awake at that time.
59. I am certainly awake at 10:00 and even 11:00. But this will tip at about 10:25-10:30 and go until probably about 12:40-12:45. That puts it about an hour later than I'd normally be up, and if you add the prospect of going out to watch it (which I would prefer to do if it was earlier) then you're getting back well after 1:00 AM. Even 20 years ago that was easy, not so much now.

The point remains, two east coast teams have a late game in an east coast venue. It should have been done differently. The last game is 10:10 but in St. Louis, so 9:10 local time. KU plays at 9:45 eastern, but in San Diego. So why is the very latest game in San Diego 15 minutes earlier on eastern time than our game in Philly? It's all very illogical.

I'd wake up in the middle of the night, check the score and not be able to go back to sleep.

I can't do that with a tournament game. I can do that when we play some cupcake early season, but not with any game that matters. So despite my griping, I will be up. Hoping we get a better slot on Sunday.

Meanwhile… UCLA fans will be at work or on the 101 when their game starts in Philly, 4:30 pm, PDT. UCF’s 13 fans? Who cares.

Take a day off. Hell, I was considering taking a half day to go to the sportsbook and just watch the other games. This Thursday-Friday should be federal holidays.

Why is it so difficult for you staying up just past midnight on a Friday night?

Are you working early in the morning on Saturday?

I go to bed early because I get up between 4 and 5am most days. Life of a contractor. We are supposed to have dinner and drinks at 6pm tonight at a nice place about 25 minutes from home. My wife accepted that invite without saying a word to me about it, as she always does.

I don’t see any way I watch the game with the day I have ahead of me unless I drink some sort of caffeinated cocktail or have an espresso after dinner. It’s 7am and I’m already tired and dreading going out for dinner, let alone staying up until 1am for a game.

My phone will buzz on the charger when the game ends and I’ll get up to pee and see the result. If we won, back to sleep. If we lost, to the couch to see what you guys are saying about it until I relax enough to move on. The way we’ve been playing, I consider a loss something to fear. I’m just praying for that beautiful NCAA tourney offense to come out in this setting and then get on a roll.

Because I just shut down around 11:30-12:00 most of the time. Even while trying to stay awake I'll just fall asleep on the couch. It's not about working Saturday, it's about getting up to work on Friday. If I could have slept to 9:00 AM today it would be fine. Wait about 20 years and see how you feel about it.
I'm certainly going to try, but if we're up 20 I'm not sure I'll make it to the end. I hope the first game is foul free and very fast. If it's close, adrenaline will probably do the trick. I hope it's not close.

Yeah, but at that point, he only sleeps for like eight minutes a night.

My dad is 93 and will be up watching. He also takes like 5 naps a day. But he’ll be up.

So, were bodies rounded up for a bus trip, or what?

Did the OP Ewekon everyone?

The UConn cheering section was loud and we enjoyed it and wished that a trip to Philly was in our cards.
