Tristen playing now

He didn't get an invite to the NBA combine despite the great showing. 99% chance he is guaranteed to not get drafted at this point.
On the other hand, he did show that he can play at the pro level. I wonder if he would take a European gig rather than come back to college?

Idk what our NIL looks like but I hope we could get him enough to bring him back rather than going overseas

Wasn't there a lot of smoke out there about Tristen not going to class much in the spring semester? If that's the case maybe he doesn't want to come back.

I thought that turned out to be bs, didn’t it?

Don’t think it was complete BS because he didn’t start the Providence BET game. But wasn’t as severe as originally rumored.

I don't know, did it? The rumor came out the night before one of our games and then Tristen started the game on the bench and Hurley said he "wasn't meeting the program's standard" or something like that and they all moved on.

I don't know but it could just be as simple as he would come back if Andre comes back

He was here one year and has lost the majority of his teammates. If they are tight I could see this being a big factor

Pretty sure MBB & WBB posted perfect APR scores this year

That means abso-friggen-lutely nothing about whether or not he went to class. Schools have learned to game the system, and we are not the exception.

Plus the APR scores recently released were from the 2021-2022 academic year.

I would not spend 1 second worrying about the APR. Schools know how to manage this now. Does anyone seriously think Hurley isn't managing the APR situation to make sure UConn has no issues? For example, Hawkins is working out in California and took online classes to make sure he finished up the semester in good standing. Whether or not Newton went to class or not (I have no idea), I'm 100% certain it won't be an issue for the APR score.

Ben Wallace
Wes Matthews
Austen Reeves
Jeremy Lin
You don't need to be drafted to play in the NBA...

That said, I sure hope he comes back.

can one of you fine people in the know post Newtons no step vertical? Not seeing it anywhere. Thanks.

TN talks a little about next steps here

UConn starting point guard Tristen Newton originally committed to the Huskies last spring anticipating spending only one year there after transferring in from East Carolina, but is now open to a return to school for his fifth year of eligibility. Newton had an impressive showing Sunday with 14 points and six rebounds after struggling Saturday.

“A school like UConn, I feel like that’s right under the pro level. We run our organization as pros, pro action. So it would more so be a guarantee [from an NBA team],” Newton says of his decision-making process. “I’m not going to jump in there just to say ‘I’m in the draft’. But the best case possible, if some team says they’ll get me, then we’ll see, talk to my family, talk to my agent and see what’s best for us.

So he gets a guarantee or he's back
