Never thought of it before but he does move a bit like Arenas. Or maybe his shot looks similar. Definitely yes I see it.Very Underrated. Machine Scorer. Deep Range. Looks like he could explode at the NEXT LEVEL.
I love Newton and I think he will do well at the next level- wherever he winds up- they will be lucky. But if you could send me a few edibles I'd appreciate it.
I'll take it a step further, I think he's "hacked" the position in his 5th year. He's a beat ahead. Look at his shot selection, he's wide open when he shoots. Otherwise, he keeps the ball moving. Drives when they give it to him. He is definitely a glue-guy but I think he's a glue-guy and a weapon.Tristen is a very good college player who can be a glue-type player for UConn this season.,
Not a terrible comparison, but I’d say Reaves was a considerably better shooting prospect. The correct pro comp for Newton is Austin Reeves. Big combo guard who can handle & run almost any kind of set, doesn’t have amazing athleticism but has very good feel & has improved immensely from deep.
Unlike Reeves I think he’ll get drafted.

Good comparison with an exception on the defensive end. DJ was a defensive standout.Tristen Newton = Dennus Johnson. Newton's game, size and average at best level of athleticism reminds me of DJ for those who are old enough to remember the Larry Bird Celtics era.
Agree? Diagree?
