Dumb question but I'll ask...........I assume for each that left, frees up an additional scholarship for recruiting....anyone have an idea for what we'll have?
I believe each transfer portal adds to the class max of 25 up to 7 additions total. So 32 total people we can have in the class now. It appears that 18 were leaving as of Senior day and then an additional 9 or 10 as of now in the portal. I assume that meanse currently we stand at around 27 or 28 recruits we can bring in, plus an additional unused scholarships that we might of had before. Looking like we will be able to have close to the max class of 32.

Some of the players in the transfer portal were part of senior day.

I feel like that is a very important distinction. If they got their degree, then go explore other opportunities. Most every other kid going to grad school is going to look at other schools, so why should a student athlete be restricted?

Thank you for explaining that. That was very clear.

All of this should make it clear that for most positions trying to "save" a year of eligibility through redshirting has become much less effective as a viable strategy.

UConn OL Stanley Hubbard who transferred out in December 2019:

Odd timing, reading some articles - seems like he might have been demoted to second string for JMU’s opening round playoff game.

So far we have 18 who walked on senior day, and 8 others who have entered the portal. 2/10 of the players in the portal at the moment also walked on senior day (Hairston and Walker). So 26 as it stands right now. And the semester isn't even over yet.

thanks, only impact player we lost this far is Lucien.

Travis Jones graduates and goes to NFL, same for Van Demark

Van Demark, Rose, and probably Keating will end up in rookie camps. What they do from there is anyone's guess. T. Jones is only one whose a lock to make a training camp roster.

Rose too?
A bowl game for them would be awesome. A great way to get in front of the scouts. Senior bowl, east west shrine bowl or NFLPA bowl are the 3 top bowls

With Fresno's Haener and Purdue's Plummer going portal it shows how much of a change has occurred in college football. Both had successful seasons on teams that won with decent coaches and it is "see ya, I am outa here!"

I saw that Nebraska QB Adrian Martinez is entering the transfer portal. Talk about rats jumping off of the sinking ship! A 61.8% completion rating for 2,863 yards, 14 TD & 10 INTS. May have 2 years of eligibility left.

I honestly feel like Adrian Martinez has been the Nebraska quarterback for the last 12 years. And he has 2 more years of eligibility!?!?

Well, they did have a Taylor Martinez at QB not too long before Adrian came along.

And I don't know about two years of eligibility. He was a four-year starter and never missed a season due to injury, so I am thinking he will only have the extra "COVID" year to work with at his next stop.

That is definitely it - I think I am combining Taylor and Adrian’s time at Nebraska.

I'm only going by this morning's Hartford Courant wire service article.
"Martinez could play two more seasons because the NCAA granted players an extra year of eligibility during last year's shortened COVID-19 season..."

Nebraska always seems to have a Martinez. A while back they had a Tyler Martinez at QB.

@huskymedic , I've said before that for me, your posts are must read and I look forward to them. I'd now like to modify my stance. You're must read in every thread except this one. When you pop up in my alerts on this one I get worried.
Given all the news lately, this is clearly your busy season like a CPA in Feb, Mar, & Apr. Thanks for the work you do.
