No, I don’t want a guy who can’t play defense when we can get a shot creator who doesn’t have the same issue. It’s not hard to find someone who can do that and be at least average on D.
No one on PC even attempted to play defense. We have no idea if this kid can play defense or not. But we know damn well he fits a glaring need on this team. You all act like Cam and Tristen were MJ and Scottie……

Diop is beyond perfect as a fit in our projected rotation. Not only can he start at PF and split time with Stew but he can split time with Reibe at C too. That is easier to spin to Reibe’s camp who might not otherwise react well to bringing in a transfer C that would directly challenge him for the starting spot. If the rumors that were swirling this year have any truth to them.

Agree. If he can back up Eric at center we won't need to sign a backup 5 man. We kind of get a 2 for 1 deal, we can use the NIL savings to sign another impact player.

With Reibe returning at Center, I’m penciling him in as the starter. We need to surround him with physicality, and wings/forwards willing to get dirty on the boards, I would love a Dillion Mitchell type player. The PC wing/forward that I’m eying is Jones, think our staff would turn him into a monster. Vaaks is redundant with Solo.

Agree we need to pair Reibe with that type of player but we’ll have Ross and Landrew on the wing. They both bring athleticism and Landrew brings physicality. I think we need to go bigger at PF eg Diop.

Jones is a good prospect too for sure if he decides to transfer, 6'6, different kind of player, certainly more athletic. I don't know that Vaaks is redundant with Solo though; I don't think we've seen his whole game, just the Providence version.

Reibe will be an amazing player next year. But add some size and weight to help him. Maybe the 7 footer on our bench develops also.

I think Ross and Landrew are competing for one wing spot. I don’t think you want to ruin the spacing by playing two non shooting bigs, unless Riebe is letting it rip from the outside next year.

Here's an article about all the dates and rules for the transfer portal this year if you need a primer. Says elite players should command $2-$3 million from revenue sharing. If your budget is $8 million is it prudent to give one player that much? As we saw with Kentucky this year just giving out money is not always the way to winning.

The revenue share isn't a salary cap. Top programs will be able to offer big money to multiple players.

If we are just throwing out names for roster needs, I’d love to get a guy like Paulius Murauskas from St. Mary’s at the 4.

Hey Kibbe,

What's the story on the Israeli center you mentioned a couple months back?

I suppose there is hope Ross jumps a level again in improvement. But as much as he’s better, if it’s this guy, we need better in our first 5 next year. We need a guy that can create, make shots and get to the basket while being very physical. There’s a huge difference in a solid bench piece and a go to guy. I mean never know, but I’m hoping the portal or Landrew has a better answer.

Competing for One wing spot in the starting lineup sure but they’re both gonna be in the top 8 of the rotation. I do expect Reibe to stretch the floor though and I think diop was almost 40% from 3 but on low volume

31% on just under one attempt per game.

Wow. You have a good memory. David Mozes (sometimes spelled Musis). He is absolutely dominating the Israeli U18 League and is repped by Octagon. He has said that he’d like to go the U.S. college route.

He won’t be 18 til this summer. But there’s the issue of mandatory military service. Nadav and Sheffer both served in the IDF prior to enrolling at UConn. But many Israeli athletes now apply for an athlete deferment program.

Mozes has the entire package. I do believe he steps on an American college campus, possibly next fall, but more likely in 2027. And I really want him in Storrs badly.
