Do we keep taking from them?

I’ve been trying to figure out what is/isn’t allowed in NIL-Land for two years now and so far I’m still coming up empty.
Which is its own answer, isn't it?

Literally - we need bigger guards. 6-2 doesn't cut it. 6-5+ only please. Tall and big guards only pls.
I disagree. I remember when UConn won two championships with quick guards who could take it to the hole in Boatright, Walker, and Napier. So just remember that and we didn't have a guard who did this the past year.

Eh, not necessarily, just need them to be strong and quick. Our incoming recruits are pretty rail-thin.

I think the biggest thing UConn needs to evaluate for is how well these players play through contact. The Big East has always had a reputation as a physical league. For guards, they need to be able to handle their dribble through hard contact. I think this is where Mahaney really struggled this year...and because being physical worked so well, it just gave every team permission to guard him really tightly. I finally saw him turn the corner in the BET where he was much more comfortable playing in tight coverage.

Basically, guards in the BE need to earn respect. If they don't get thrown off their game when played tightly, teams give them space.

So of any potential transfer, I want to see how closely they were guarded and what their ball handling skills are in pressure. That probably means that the guard will need to be bigger, but as folks pointed out here, there are definitely exceptions to that. (And yes, if the rumors of Braden Smith potentially entering the portal, I'd 100% want UConn to pursue him because he is a baller.)

It’s hard to find good tall guards that aren’t also NBA prospects I feel like.
I was gonna post a take that we might have to settle for a non big guard because people don't realize how rare quality tall guards actually are. If we can get a Diarra level defender with more offensive/playmaking upside, that'll likely have to be enough.

If Stirtz comes back to college, we're gonna be competing with EVERYONE for his services, before acknowledging his previous allegiance. That goes for anyone of his caliber.

That was 10+ years ago…. That was then this is NOW..

Why don’t people understand that… The game is always transforming.

If that's true it's silly. Could you imagine how much better this team would've been with Kadary Richmond?
I do think it’s true but I don’t think it’s silly. How much better would we be with RJLuis?
